Welcome to the Gardens: one of the most tranquil areas of the Tower Grounds. Birds sing in the trees which line the wide paths between beautiful flower beds and serene lakes. There are benches to sit and listen to the waterfall, and there is neatly trimmed grass to lie on and rest. Novices and Soldiers as well as Warders in Training can be seen, sweeping the stone paths as Accepted and Dedicated study from books and relax under leafy trees.

Well at least he wasn't getting angry or frustrated, which admittedly she would have understood given how much she was struggling on her own to really grasp just what had happened. While she was pretty confident he had used Earthsinging, her impression had been that that sort of thing was really about practise and training and yet he was standing in front of her saying that had never happened. Which meant...well, she'd done the same thing but what was the likelihood of that happening again?

Although Betrys couldn't shake the feeling that it was exactly that .

"It wasn't...well, it was as much my fault as yours. Lets just say that, eh? I's think that would be for the best. Though it reminds me that I should really practise some more defense..." she murmured and smiled in a brief flash to at least suggest that she wasn't all that upset by what had happened - or at least not enough to hold it against him for a long period of time. She really didn't have the sort of temperament to hold a grudge "I'm curious - do they...I mean I've been taught tae reach saidar obviously; did you ever find more of a connection to one element over any of the others?" she asked.

Betrys was probably treating him as a little bit of a simpleton but that didn't mean that she was really trying to get her a head around this "Did...one of ma first lessons was growing a seed. What about ya?" she asked.

He smiled half-heartedly at the girl's attempt at humor, if that was what it had been. Maybe she was serious. At least she was smiling. It seemed to defuse the whole situation a bit more. Neither of them really seemed angry at the other person, which was all the better, as it would make figuring out what had happened a lot easier. He desperately hoped she had answers, because the more he thought about the whole thing, the more confused he seemed to get, and he could hardly go to a more experienced channeler and tell them that he had used the Power to assault an Accepted. She was his only hope.

He thought about her question. Of course there were some elements he felt more comfortable using than others. All channelers had their strengths and weaknesses, and he was no exception. The girl knew that, of course, but he could see why she asked such simple questions. She didn't know him, and didn't know what he knew and what not. "I have always felt most comfortable with Earth, and, to some extent, Fire. I think... No, I know I used Earth just then. I don't remember the exact weave, but it was Earth. I think I grasped for it intuitively, because it comes so easily to me." He thought of something. "Do you... Is it the same for you? Do you prefer Earth as well?" It would explain, to some extent, why they had apparently used the same weapon.

He had to think for a bit about her other question. What had been his first weave to learn? "I think my first weave was a forming a flame. It seems to be the first thing they teach all Soldiers. But I've also learnt to grow things. The Dedicated who taught me my first weaves seemed to prefer the more destructive weaves, though." It was true. The Dedicated had quickly gone over using Earth to grow seeds and plants, but he had done that so quickly that, with his affinity for Earth, Kiellan had been one of the few of his class who had gotten the hang of it before the Dedicated had moved on to flames again.

The last thing she would presume to do was correct how saidin was taught, she nothing about it or how it worked and she didn't want too either. Betrys was perfectly content to stick with studying her own uses of the One Power.

However, it seemed that she and this man had something in common "Yes, it was Earth. I...I seem tae hae some talent with Earthsinging, makes me a bit odd among the women here but there we are. The Light obviously has some plans" perhaps this was part of it? Betrys was hardly about to suggest any deep understanding of what the Light had in mind when it came to her person and the way the Wheel was going to spin for her this time round.

"Do you remember the Weave for that?" she asked. The last thing that Betrys intended to do was step up and volunteer to become a teacher for him. She was an Accepted now but that didn't mean she viewed herself as better - deserving of respect, yes. But they'd already had there conversation about that sort of thing and she didn't want to encourage a renewal of that topic again.

She stood up, trying not to wince from the pain in her leg "I'd like to see ya try it. I know that it's different for you but feeling it might make it clearer tae me if its the same thing at all" perhaps men were taught something that would feel similar to what she called Earthsinging, after all it was saidin and assuming it would be the same was likely to be a huge sort of mistake.

Earthsinging. Kiellan formed the word with his lips. It sounded right, for what he had done. The word didn't sound familiar, but that was no surprise. His reading still wasn't good enough for the more difficult books, so his primary sources had been the lessons and his talks with Aes Sedai and Asha'man. This had limited his search for knowledge, but he had made do.

He nodded at the Accepted. She was certainly the more experienced of them, especially in this. "I think I can do it." With that, he rid himself of his feelings until the familiar peacefulness of the Void came over him. Just outside, saidin gleamed seductively, its alluring glow illuminating the Void. As always, the struggle for control began as soon as he seized saidin. The fighting was tough, and Kiellan knew that if he lost control for only a second, he would never be able to recover, but he reveled in it anyway. The fighting made him feel alive, more alive than anything else could. It made him forget about the troubles of today for awhile.

Only for a short moment, though. Kiellan didn't allow himself to get distracted for long, and forced himself on the task at hand. He grabbed a single flow of Earth, which came to him as naturally as always, bringing with it a sense of familiarity, of home. He tried to shape the flow as he had done earlier, but it was hard to remember what exactly he had done so instinctively. He tried a weave that seemed familiar, but it must've been one of those the Dedicated had taught him, as suddenly, a single blade of grass started growing. He quickly made the weave disappear, and tried again. He tried molding and reshaping the weave, until eventually, he managed to form something that reminded him somewhat of what he had done earlier. It probably wasn't exactly the same, but it would have to suffice. As he wove it into the ground, he knew he was doing it too wildly. He flinched as an entire patch of ground suddenly flew away, missing the Accepted by mere inches.

"I... that was it, I think? Sorry for almost hittting you. Again. Did that seem familiar to you?"

She was really going to need to concentrate on improving her skills when it came to dodging missiles coming along in her direction, that or figure out those situations which weren't going to end up resulting in them. Which would be a whole other skill-set and not likely to be one that Betrys managed to achieve anytime soon...or perhaps at all.

There was after all plenty of room to accept certain impossibilities and this was likely to be one of them "Either...ya really hae some buried issues going on dere or I am just full of bad luck at the moment" she muttered, as Betrys picked herself up from where she'd rolled to avoid the impact of the earth against her body. The last thing she really wanted to worry about was adding some more bruises to her current state, people were more than likely enough to ask questions without her ending up adding more in the way of further speculation about what she'd been up to in the first place.

"If ya could see about not doing that again, I'd be pleased. Really pleased" she murmured, and started to dust down her person once again before letting out a puff of air in response to her own recovery.

Betrys closed her eyes and considered what she'd seen so far, it was hard to accurately understand just what he had done. There were a fair number of differences between the two methods of touching the One Power. Perhaps with more experience she would be able to better understand but that would be later, right now...right now she had only this moment and her current knowledge "Sorta. I'd nae used the Weave tae attack before now but...it sure seems like it is the right fit" she nodded and offered a smile. It seemed the right thing to do.

Kiellan's cheeks were still red, embarrassed at having attacked this girl twice now, albeit accidentally. "Sorry for that, again. I wasn't trying to hit you, if that was what you were thinking. Wasn't really trying anything, really, except for replicating that weave." The girl had been surprisingly agile, managing to dodge his loose projectile by rolling away from it with a great reaction that he hadn't expected from her. Perhaps he had judged her too quickly, there might be more to her.

He was intrigued by what she said next. According to her, this thing could be used for more than just throwing stuff at people. It was a relief, he thought he had discovered something that could much easier be done by using Air. He was growing excited by the array of possibilities his new ability might have. He wasn't sure if it was even allowed to experiment with the One Power the way he was doing now, but even that thought couldn't scare him away from it. He knew he wouldn't be able to resist the temptation of learning everything he could about this, and thank the Light he had this Accepted to guide him with that. The difference between saidin and saidar would prevent her from actually teaching him, but perhaps she could tell him of the different uses, which would probably help a lot in discovering it himself.

"So, you've used it for other things? Like what?" He thought for a second. The weave had connected him to the earth, more closely than any other weave had ever done. Perhaps that could be one of its uses. "I was quite... wild with my channeling just now. Perhaps that is the key. Have you ever tried channeling it straight into the earth? It seems natural."

She might have been faster than he'd thought but Betrys still had to acknowledge that she could have been a touch faster, certainly enough to avoid ending up needing to dodge in the first place and with the whole of her body but those sorts of skill hasn't initially been the ones that she had been worried about learning, let alone mastering.

So, she avoided kicking herself about that one, at least for the time being.

Besides there were far more important things to discuss now, the last position she had imagined finding herself in was the role of teacher but it seemed to be arriving at some speed. Which meant Betrys needed to try and think outside of the box, while she had imagined herself in the role of supporting another Sister at some point, helping out a male channeler hadn't featured - they did things differently after all. Although it was still the One Power "I's...I've been reading up on thing. Tae try and help with my understanding and such. But nae, I've nae done exactly what ya thinking or I dinnae think I's have - it's a different thing for me and ya tae be using the Weaves. I grew a tree once, and I've done other things, shaped plants tae my bidding" she explained, before letting her words come to an ending.

Betrys didn't want to sound like she was boasting but the sharing of information between them would probably be important.

Kiellan pondered on the Accepted's words. He hadn't even considered the possibility of letting things grow. There wasn't a lot of green in Ebou Dar, that was one of the reasons why he loved these gardens so much, but it also meant he didn't have any experience working with nature. He had heard stories from the merchants at Mol Hara square of people, or well, something resembling people, who used some form of magic to grow the most magnificent trees, but that had always seemed a myth to him. Large humanoids with broad noses and enormous eyes, who could believe that? Yet this might be something similar.

He liked what she said about the reading, too. He had been thinking the same. He was completely unfamiliar with his newfound talent, but it couldn't be entirely new. There must've been countless others before Kiellan, as confused as him, and at least some of them must have eventually found out how it works. And he had a name, probably. Earthsinging, the girl had called it. As soon as he had the time, he would look into it, search for possible uses. He might even try them out, if he could find the courage. If someone would catch him experiment with the One Power, he would be scolded until his ears fell off. But that was a matter for later.

"Thank you, Accepted. As horrid as this meeting began, it has been a great pleasure and an unexpected help talking to you. You've given me much to think about. I suggest we will continue to discuss the different uses we may find."

OOC: Thanks, this thread has been great! I think that Kiellan needs to work a little more on this new talent before he can really do anything more with it, so it seemed like a good stopping point to me. You can close it up, or if there are unresolved issues to you than you can add them, or write a last post and I can close it up!

There was a part of her that was pleased she'd managed to turn what could have been a real failure, if not an unmitigated disaster given how it had all started, into something which had been positive and possibly successful as well. Betrys had never been happier about her skills with the Weaves associated with her Earth talent than right at the moment. It seemed that she might have something very real in terms of the way she used it, even if as far as Betrys was concerned it was all about an instinctive reaction to how she felt the One Power.

Betrys hadn't actually been aware that she could share that with someone else.

Someone who had a real understanding of what it was like. Mirin was good but the lack of a shared interest and skill in Earth meant that it wasn't the true exchange that she would have liked.

"Well...then, umm yes. I'd like that! Comparing notes would actually be rather great, do you want tae arrange tae meet up?" she asked, not really needing to hang around for long once he'd answering and in fact judging from the way that the sun had moved across the horizon that would probably bot be the best sort of idea in any case "Actually I have tae go, yer going be alright? Find me again - alright?" Betrys added and turned to start jogging back towards the main Tower. Betrys supposed it might seem rude and sudden but turning up late was simply not an option for her to consider if she wanted to continue to show herself willing and able.
