Sitting in a rapidly emptying lecture room, a young Tinker girl sat in a seat. She was new to the Tower, and had yet to make any connections. So while the other women in white dresses walked out in two and threes, and the men in black coats did the same, she stayed back. Everything that had brought her to the Tower had happened so quickly, Avairyana felt that she needed just a moment to reflect.
She was excited to be here. Among women, even men, who could channel. The Aes Sedai fascinated her, the prestige they held and authority that seemed second nature to them. Most of the Tuatha'an had been horrified at the thought of going to a Tower to learn to wield the One Power, but Avairyana had been more than thrilled. Her desire was rooted in a mission her bloodline had been on for generations, finally seeing fruiting in the brown eyed Avairyana. As she did when in a contemplative state, Avairyana began to run her fingers through her hair, slowly. The feel and repetitive motion helping to focus her mind.
Tuatha'an the new Novice might be by blood, by in spirit and truth she was Amayar. It had been drilled into her from birth. Her family was much removed from Tremalking, but their mission was all for the island. To stop events that would lead to the death of every inhabitant of the island, that is what she was at the Grey Tower for. Avairyana could only hope that she could learn all that needed to be learned before events went too far to be checked. She knew there was no way to rush becoming Aes Sedai, to attempt it would probably mean death. If not death, then she could become one of the women who was the focus of the lesson that had just dismissed, burnt out. Able to sense saidar but never able to touch it again. That would make her a failure and useless.
So focused on her daunting task and the road ahead was she that Avairyana never realized that there were others still in the classroom.
