The walls she had worked so hard to build around her since deciding it was all over came crumbling down the moment she saw him, and fell away entirely when he took her in his arms. There was a feeling of illicitness to this meeting that she had never felt before, and she wasn't sure if it enhanced it or not. She didn't care. He was with her again.

When he broke away and they both hurriedly took in a breath, he spoke and she blinked at him.

He had heard... What had he heard? There were many things. Had he heard that she had run away, or about the carrying rocks? Likely both, really. Her mind raced. She worked her art in every moment of her life, more so before the occurrence, but she could not act around him and just stared up into his gaze, his face covered in angles of shadow.

"I..." she began and then stumbled. Her voice was barely above a whisper. "I just...couldn't tell why I was here. I had to get away, even if it wasn't my smartest move..."

Morgan looked at Natlya for a long moment, absorbing her response.

Obviously, there was some information he hadn't known. He only figured that Nat had slipped into city and away from the Yards as a form of a prank or just to let her hair down a little.

That wasn't the case.

She was planning to run. Light, but that was both mad and well … probably the sanest move she could do without risking a certain Asha'man's ire. She wasn't a channeler, and could leave of her free will.

Rather, she was a bargaining chip that had since lost its value. If he were to run, or risk any type of stupidity, he would be cast back to the dogs in Lugard, and Nat along with him.

If she ran, the worst that could possibly happen was that the Yards would strike her name from its rolls and brand her a deserter. He doubted the Asha'man would care enough to inform bounty hunters or certain nobility.

Still, it stung a little bit that she would leave without saying goodbye.

You were the ones who cut the string in the first place, you sheepheaded ninny! If you're that whinny about it, go ask a wet nurse for mother's milk in a cup! The voice that directed him in rare moments of common sense won out. But Morgan decided it was another mark against said voice.

Instead, he simply kissed her again, this one a lingering, slow burning kiss. It lasted but a moment before he pulled away, standing to look at the young woman who had at first attempted to steal his purse and ended up stealing his heart years ago.

“I heard about the man who attempted to attack you,” Morgan murmured. “He was bragging about it in the stables a few days ago until he got to the part where you injured him. He won't be speaking, bragging or hurt anyone anymore.”

The knife he stuck in the man would make sure of that.

He touched her face and murmured, “I realized it was time to stop running and using excuses. Burn what that flaming Asha'man said, burn everything. I am for you, Natlya, wherever that path leads.”

"As I am for you," she breathed, feeling like she could truly breathe again for the first time in months. There were few people in this life that Natlya had truly trusted, and Morgan was chief among them. To have lost him was to have lost something very valuable to her, and that had been a blow difficult to bear.

That he had heard about her attack in particular was a surprise, but one that she absorbed quickly. He had taken care of him. With grim satisfaction, that was all she needed to know.

She held his face in her hands, looking up into his eyes like she had so many times in the past. This time, almost...pleading. "We'll find a way, I know we will," she said fervently. "No one else need get in our way. They never have 'til we came here!" She paused and forced herself to take a slow breath. "Yes. I tried to run. I thought...if I didn't have you, then why was I here?

"But I came back. This place might have good things for us too, but we have to make it bend to us and not the other way around. We can take what's good of it and make ourselves better, but never letting it change us." There was fervor and fire in her eyes, almost like when she described a "perfect" con, but with less mischief.
