Lost or Exploring? (Open)

Post by Lynsey » March 19th, 2015, 4:00 am

When Della was younger she would often go walks through the woods with her grandfather. Admittedly, they often were tracking the way the animmals moved, and looked for changes in the trees. Her grandfather would often tell Della that she must be aware of her surroundings, as they tell a story. So maybe that is why Della decided to wander the halls after completing her lessns, rather than going back to her room.

She paused to stare out the window, the sun had just begun to show signs of setting. Glowing brightly and seemingly closer to the earth. As if the sun wished to have few more moments with the Earth, to whisper it's goodbye. It was a beautiful sight as usual, but it was still different than the last. It was never the same, even after centuries of setting, the sun reminded her how unique each of her days were.

She could stand there for as long as possibe and just watch the sunset. But the nagging feeling of her tired body urged her to continue. She didn't know exactly how to get to where she was going. Only that her destination was her own quarters. She pulled the red ribbon from her hair and let her dark brown hair fall down to the small of her back. She still had thoughts of cutting it. Somehow, just taking her ribbon made Della feel free. Perphaps because tying her hair represented a busy life.

She walked away from the window, hurriedly tucking her ribbon in her sleeve. Or so she thought. It wasn't until she hear a voice that she realized she had dropped her ribbon.

"Excuse me. But you dropped this"

Taylin had been in the library for hours studying. She had been eyed by a Brown nearly the entire time, always close if she couldn't find something. It was nice, but also a bit annoying. She'd asked to borrow two books, and after swearing to protect them and keep them in the same condition she found them, she was off.

Walking through the Tower no longer seemed a daunting task. She made her turns with ease, watching as she walked, though watching no one thing too long. She crested stairs, and was nearing the dormitories, when she noticed a younger novice with very long hair.

And just as Taylin was about to head toward her own rooms with Leala, she noticed a red ribbon on the floor. She hurried over, pretending to drop the book, and picked up the ribbon with the book. She'd tap the other girl on the shoulder and offer the ribbon back to her.

"You look like you might be a bit lost." Taylin smiled, her Domani skin and blond hair made her pretty, but she was not the beauty of a fully matured woman. "Would you like some help?"

Startled by the tap on her should the voice of a female. Della froze for a moment, she really had to get a grip on herself. Also remember that she was not the only one coming back from a full day. She turned to face the woman and she did her best to smile a relaxed smile. She supposed that she should be use to meeting new people by now, but it was still unfamiliar territory. Having grown up in a small town, everyone knew one another by sight.

Speaking of which, the young woman that stood before looked very beautiful indeed. Her blonde hair seemed to have a tint of red to it, a reflection of the sun Della suppposed. It onlly highlighted the woman's features. But the way she carried herself differed quite a bit from what Della was use to. As she glanced down at the extended hand, it took her a second to register that her ribbon was not in her sleeve. She reached out for it with a steady hand and took it, determind to not be intimidated by the woman.

"Thank you, I did not realize I had dropped it" she said, tucking the ribbon in her pouch that hung at her waist this time, to ensure she would not lose it again. A smile tugged at the corners of her mouth as the woman offered her help. Not wanting to offend her, she calculated her words carefully.

"Thank you. I would love your help. I'm not lost. I do, however, want to discover more of the Grey Tower before I return to my room."

Taylin smiled at the girl, though inside she felt a slight string of annoyance. She was trying to be nice, but really did not feel like playing tour guide. Perhaps she could get her way out of this artfully enough she did not offend the other girl.

Holding her books awkwardly as if they were heavier than they were, she instead asked a question, ignoring the request for a tour. "Have you been assigned a room mate yet?"

Taylin wondered who had been stuck with her old room mate when she and Leana had moved in together.

Although the woman had smiled. Della could tell it was forced. But than again. It was late in the day. Maybe it would have been better to ask for directions to the Kitchens. After all a tea started to seem like a good idea right now. She noticed the shift in the woman's stance as she acquired if Della had a roommate.

"Actually, no. My roommate recently left. I'm not sure where she went. But I'm sure I'll see her around." Della replied wondering how to stall her return to her own room. She didn't lie when she said she would like to see another part of the Grey Tower. But she figured maybe she would settle for helping this woman with her books.

"On second thought, would you like me to carry some of those books for you? I'd say a Brown has been very generous," said Della with a slight smile. She wanted to make up for wasting the woman's time.
