Brainstorming with the Blue

Post by Jenny » October 21st, 2015, 4:51 am

If you're interested in Blue, then this thread is for YOU!

If you're not, please still feel free to post ideas. I'd still love 'em, even if you ain't Blue. Anyways, since this Ajah is a little...quiet...right now, I feel that we could bounce some ideas on how to liven things up. Historically, the Blue has been a very active Ajah, and I'd love to see us get hoppin' again! For reference, our Wiki page is here: LINK

Some things that we can work on:

1. The Ajah Library! LINK to work-in-progress HERE. I'm currently thinking:
  • a history of the Blue Ajah members and their achievements,
a list of our eyes-and-ears (NPC names, descriptions, locations),
a description of our relationships with other Ajahs,
and of course, secret Blue Ajah weaves.
This will take time and dedication to build and lots of digging through the Old Library, but a wall is begun with the placement of a single stone! In the future, I feel that managing this information could be an informal position within the Blue Ajah: perhaps head of our eyes-and-ears? 8-) Anyways, please post below or message me if you'd like to work on this project.

2. What direction should we take the Ajah to recruit more members? I think that starting new threads in this forum would be a great start. Perhaps we could even have a FAQ thread for our potential aspirants! In addition, when we get more members, I would LOVE to do an Ajah-wide plot/RP! So, if anyone has ideas, again, post below or message me.

YAY! I look forward to seeing this thread and my inbox FULL of your wonderful ideas. :la

If you need a Blue Aes Sedai for anything, my first character at GT was a Blue (her name is Ninya) and she is still alive and kicking. I won't bring her back as a primary character, but I'd be happy to use her for Ajah Explorations and the like if anyone needs/wants one. :)

Thanks for getting this started! I think right now, my Nykkolaia is pretty much the only active PC Blue. It would be nice to have some company. XD

Secret Blue Ajah Weaves would be great, but frankly some not-secret Blue weaves would be awesome. If you read up in the old library on the Benefits page, many of the Ajahs (Green included, since I did most of them, and I helped a lot on the Yellow's) had a set of Ajah Weaves and Secret Ajah Weaves that were described. The Blue never really got the same treatment. I'd love to see that happen.

I'm thinking about having Daelar Join the Blue Ajah (he's still a soldier).
Perhaps a blue weave would be a weave that follows and spies on someone? A "gateway" that nobody can go through, for communication perhaps?
I'm thinking that would take much less power than a normal gateway.
Really, the Blue needs to be able to communicate efficiently with its eyes and ears. Perhaps also the weave Moiraine used in the Eye of the World with the coins, or something that allows you to easily put that "communication gateway" where the person carrying the token is.

This is so exciting! Keep those suggestions coming. *shares blueberry pie* <3

Marla: We should totally do a RP when Mirin gets raised so she can get to know some of her fellow Blue sisters and learn some Blue traditions. Might take a few months though, I need to write a lot before that happens (and tie up a few plots lol).

Bella: I'll read up on the Ajah Weaves and brainstorm! I've been skimming through some of it, but honestly I'm a little confused. Once I read through it again and come up with specific questions, I'll probably PM you or post here.

Julio: Whoo-hoo, join the Blue! I noticed that you've just returned to the GT, so welcome back! And thank you for your suggestions on Blue weaves. I think that a spy weave might be too OP and take away some of the guesswork and mystery in roleplays. And I feel that a gateway is a gateway, no matter how large or small. Unless the character is like Androl and has a Latent Talent with Traveling, it would be impossible to open a gateway, even a small one, in a place that you do not "know."

Therefore, I feel that ole' fashioned pigeons/messengers seem to do the trick just fine with eyes-and-ears and such. But I do like your suggestion of Moiraine's coin weave, which can track people as long as they keep the coin, and I will read up on it. Thank you!

I noticed I wasn't very specific with the gateway. I meant a gateway that, no matter the size, is not actually a gateway. You can not go through it or send things through it, you can only see and hear things through it. Purely for face to face communication. It would give the Blue a distinct advantage over Ajahs that still had to use carrier pigeons. :)

Really, I think RJ just made gateways so that he could advance the plot quickly, because otherwise it would take months to get from place to place. Gateways themselves are a bit OP.

Here are some secret weaves that I have come up with. Let's add more to the list!

I also have a request for you all to consider: I would like for us to have a rule that secret weaves must be taught to a newly raised sister/brother through role play. I feel that a role play is necessary because I read a fanfiction which... stretched the truth in secret weaves. Also, this requirement would also be a great opportunity for the new sister/brother to get to know the other Blues better!

Anyways, without further ado:

Secret Blue Ajah Weaves
Attracting Animals (Air, Earth, and Spirit)
This ability allows the channeler to control small animals to a limited extent. The list of animals includes: biting insects, rodents, pigeons, and songbirds. The weave can be used to summon the animals, soothe them, or make them aggressive. Please note that large animals such horses, wolves, or falcons are too intelligent to be manipulated by this weave.

Blue Flare of Distress (Air & Fire)
This weave sends a blue sparkler up into the air. A slightly modified version of this weave can also produce a small blue flame. Both versions of the weave are used to signal between members of the Blue Ajah and their eyes & ears. For example, a steady blue flame means that the agent should prepare for danger. A flickering blue flame in a room means imminent danger and that the agent should evacuate immediately. A sparkler into the sky is a cry for help.

Refreshing (Air, Water, and Spirit)
This weave is known among several Ajahs, although the Blue still teach it as a secret weave. It gives the sense of alertness, although it does not actually erase fatigue. The person will feel his/her exhaustion two-fold once the weave wears off. Like all Healing weaves, a channeler cannot use it on him/herself.

Inducing Fear (Spirit)
This weave, unlike Compulsion, cannot force its victim to action. However, it can be especially effective when used together with careful persuasion or intimidation.

Tracking Objects (Air & Earth)
Placing this weave on a non-living object allows its location to be sensed by the channeler. A larger object can be sensed at a longer distance. However, the weave can also be identified and removed by other channelers. Thus, the size of the object must be carefully considered in a delicate balance between usefulness, practicality, and stealth. The favored object of most channelers is a coin, although there is always the risk of accidentally spending it!

Note: Julio, I tried to incorporate your coin idea into Tracking Objects. I still feel that the communication idea, while excellent, is too strong for the GT. What do you think? Please feel free to throw around more suggestions!!

Edit: Included Blue Flare of Distress and elements.

I understand that the sight and sound gateway is quite likely overpowered; I just wanted to make sure you understood what I was suggesting.

I very much like the idea of having to learn the secret weaves through RP!

The weaves themselves seem good, though they all favour spirit(I don't have a problem with that, but it is something to keep in mind). The small animals weave seems very useful, as you don't even need to train a carrier pigeon to have it carry a letter!

Another weave that is similar to inducing fear(it might possibly be overpowered, though) is making someone feel rather than fear or revulsion, a draw toward it. It seems natural, as all weaves have opposites.

That's a great point about the weaves favoring Spirit. I'll try to think of others.

Does anyone know who to talk to for updating the Ajah page?

Ideas:
- Blue Flare of Distress: Fire & Air, sends a blue sparkler up into the air. A small blue flame can also be used as a signal to Blue agents and the eyes & ears.

Ummm... Marla maybe? I'm not sure.

That's a perfect weave. Something comprised of Daelar's worst two elements... Though the blueness would probably be accomplished using earth.

Maybe a weave that tells you what has recently happened to a specific object. That would be useful, and probably not very overpowered. Very useful for determining justly!
