“Thank you Gaidin, my father often spoke of drilling a move into your muscle until you could perform it half asleep. It did not give me the widest arrary of attacks, but they are smooth. And they feel familiar, even if I have left my training in sword untended”, Beron said as he finished his demonstration for the Gaidin.
"Now, since this is a training session and not a spar, we'll do a little learning as well. I will teach you a few forms you may not yet know, and even if you do, practice never hurts. Then you will get the chance to use them and I will demonstrate how to counter them,” Haedan instructed once more, his skill as an instructor apparent to Beron, one advantage to a youth spent in the Grey Tower he supposed.
"Form one... Lightning of the Three Prongs. It is so named for the three parts of the strike," he said, moving into Lion on the Hill. "It does not have to begin from this stance, but it's useful. From here, you thrust." Which he did. "And then you follow with two more thrusts, or slashes to each side. Adapted for the situation."
He demonstrated each version slowly, and then a little more quickly, before stepping back. "Now you'll do it with me a time or two, before doing it on your own."
“Sounds good,” Beron moved into position where he could observe Haedan without interfering with their movements. First was assuming the stance, Lion on the Hill, an unfamiliar high guard. He had less experience with
high guards, the style of fighting his father had favoured used them less, The height of the guard was a bit cumbersome at first, but after a few test thrusts and slashed it slowly began to feel controlled if not comfortable. With the thrust that began the Lightning of the Three Prongs Beron noticed that it felt easier if he placed the blade so he could look down it at his opponent. After the first attack they practiced together, Beron realized that he preferred to slash and cut, which would be a fatal mistake if an opponent realized that. And so with the quick speed this sword form allowed, he worked on practicing his thrusts. “This is a great form Gaidin, I imagine it works well to move their momentum to the defensive, with that in mind is there a strong counter to it?” Beron asked as they danced through the steps of the swordform.
