Kitty frowned slightly at Suu's blunt way of putting things, though she did recognize the truth in the girl's words. In the eyes of others, her way of talking could be viewed as just waving her hands around, hoping to be understood. But there was more to her talk than just her hands. Her face, her posture, her whole body spoke just as much as her hand did. And that was true when it came to pretty much everyone. Few realized just how much their body gave away.

Suu was quite easy to read when she spoke, in that there wasn't much to read besides her words. She spoke bluntly, said what she meant, and didn't seem to mind, or even consider, if the other person got hurt by her words.

Right there and then, Kitty decided she liked her roommate.

She gave a simple nod in response to Suu's words; she wasn't going to be a hinder to her. And even with the detours and twists and turns they'd taken so far, she had a good memory, and had memorized the way and her surroundings so far. She believed firmly that she could find the way back. Maybe not the shortest route, but if she had to backtrack the whole way back to their room, so be it.

With a slightly over-elaborated gesture, and a smile, she motioned for Suu to lead the way.

Suu Nalemar The girl frowned at her and Suu wasn't sure what to make of it. She honestly had never dealt with this kind of limitation in another person before and it was... unnerving. But she gave a shrug and let it pass. Not much she could do about it and chances were the girl wouldn't snore at night.

"Alright, let us go then." And she headed back into the Grey Tower and straight to the Library this time. Taking care to pass by a place that would be familiar to the girl so she could find her way back. Suu didn't always go out of her way for people but she wasn't exactly mean either. Arriving at the Library Suu walked on to where the herbs and plants section of the library was, not really watching to see if Kitty was even still following her.

Kitty fell in behind her roommate, easily keeping the girl's pace while keeping her eyes and mind on her surroundings as they walked back into the Tower. She noticed several easily recognizable landmarks on the way, and after the first couple she realized that Suu was deliberately walking past those for her sake. That small act of kindness brought a smile to the girl's face as they walked through the halls of the Tower.

The first thing that struck Kitty when they reached the Library, was the vastness of it. It was huge, bigger than she had thought and much bigger than any library she'd ever seen. She stopped just inside the doors, gawking, feeling like the low-class girl she was, had been. It only took a moment before she collected herself again, but in that moment she felt that she gained everyone's attention; when it truth, no one really looked her way.

A slight panic grabbed at her as she realized she'd lost Suu, and her heart beat faster for a moment until she spotted her roommate walking down an aisle ahead. Wanting to hold on to the only thing somewhat familiar in this place, Kitty hurried after Suu, her step fast and light, carefully not running or making much sound. Stories of librarians had taught her that it was best to be quiet in a library, and she had no doubt that the ones tending to this one was any different.

As she walked down the aisles, following Suu, she started to look at the books present. Most titles she didn't recognize at all - she wasn't the most avid reader - and she couldn't really grasp their subject either. Others were a bit more understandable in their titles as to their content, and she gathered that they were entering the section for plants, herbs maybe. She continued, eyes more on the books than on following her roommate, and soon she was in another section altogether.

A book's title suddenly caught her eye, and more specifically her interest.
"Unwritten Languages"
She had no idea what it was about, but now she was curious. Maybe it contained something about sign languages? It was a long shot, but maybe..

The book was high up in the bookshelf, too high for Kitty to reach without any assistance. Not really thinking much of it, she calmed herself and called saidar, allowing the sweet feeling to fill her. With a few thin strands of Air, she pulled the book out of the bookcase and floated it down to her height. Grabbing onto it with her hands, she released saidar again, somewhat reluctantly, and looked around for a place to sit down and read.

Alshamz Sedai of the Brown Ajah The Brown was wandering away from her caverns of her quarters in the lower parts of the Library. She was rarely in her room except when she slept, but she only rarely came out for air among the others of the Tower. Some weren't sure if she was one of the Original Browns in the Grey Tower or if she was even older still. There was no way to put an age on her and no one could remember her ever not being there. But then no one really remembered her at all.

Sensing Channeling in the repository next to her, she turned curious to find the little spec of a Novice getting a book down. "Tsk." The click was loud and hard. Her voice held no humor despite it's melodious sound. "That will not do at all. Hand over the book, Child and tell me your name."

Kitty spun around at the sound, and found herself facing an oncoming Aes Sedai who sounded anything but pleased. Though the woman didn't sound angry either. She did manage to leave Kitty with the feeling that she'd done something wrong, but she couldn't understand what.

Kitty cast her eyes down and with one hand holding the book, dropped into a curtsy she hoped was properly apologetic. It was one she'd used when the cook or innkeeper had scolded her for doing something wrong at The Wayfarer's Rest, only this was more sincere than those had ever been. Rising from the curtsy, she looked up at the Aes Sedai, and with another curtsy she handed the woman the book she'd brought down. She couldn't think of anything else she'd done than bring down a book, and thus it must be the book that was wrong. And either way the Aes Sedai had asked for the book.

As soon as the woman took the book from her hand, and before she could be scolded for not speaking up, she unhooked the chalkboard and scribbled down her name, Ci'tanni Shannaran, before holding the board out for the Aes Sedai to read. She wondered if the woman would give her time to write down an apology.

Alshamz Sedai The Brown looked at the chalkboard and then back at the Novice. "Ah, so you are the one that does not speak. No voice but will eventually speak volumes. yes. One day, perhaps. If she learns to follow the rules." The Aes Sedai regarded the novice, easily picking up the girls confusion.

"Do you know what the rules are about channeling, Child?"

Kitty was surprised that this Aes Sedai had heard of her already, considering that she'd only been in the Grey Tower for a day. But word travelled fast between the Aes Sedai, apparently. But what did the woman mean that she would eventually speak volumes? She found the Brown slightly confusing.

It took a little while for realization to dawn upon her regarding the rules, and once it finally did, she could feel herself blushing as she dropped into another curtsy, this one even more sincere. She nodded meekly to the woman, feeling like a child again, just as the Aes Sedai had called her.

She looked at the Aes Sedai, and indicated towards her own writing equipment, asking for permission to write an explanation with her gestures and eyes. The woman seemed to understand her, and Kitty pulled out a sheet of paper from her belt pouch, uncorked the travel ink flask and used the chalkboard as a temporary table as her hand flew across the paper in quick, flowing motion.

[kitty]I apologize, Aes Sedai. I trained at the Black Tower for a year before I came here, and they encourage us to use the Power for simple tasks to learn faster. I had forgotten Novices are not allowed to channel unsupervised. I will not forget again.[/kitty]
She blew softly on the paper to hurry the ink to dry, though the ink she used was one that dried quickly, and handed the paper to the Aes Sedai.

Alshamz Sedai The Brown Aes Sedai looked over the paper, reading it over a time or two as surprise filtered into her otherwise dreamy impassive eyes. "The Black Tower. Now, that is quite interesting. Not that they have any idea how damaging that sort of training is for a Novice, like yourself." She tsked to herself, and then looked at the Novice for a moment thoughtfully and gave a nod.

"You will complete what you need to do here in the Library but right after, before you do anything else you are to report to the Mistress of Novices and tell her what you have done her. A Novice Channeling without permission or without supervision is strictly forbidden. You may go, child. And don't think I won't know if you do not report to Illyria Sedai." Alshamz gave the girl a hard look before her features changed again to a sweet smile and she wandered off as if remembering a favorite passage in a book.

Kitty was somewhat surprised at the surprise the Aes Sedai showed as she read her note, for two reasons. First, it was strange to see such an emotion, or any emotion at all, on an Aes Sedai's face - not that she had met many yet, but that were the stories. Second, it was strange that the woman had heard of her being a mute, but not that she had trained in the Black Tower before coming here. And what did she mean by that sort of training being damaging for her? Sure, it had been hard, and too much focus on battle, which is why she had left. But she had also learned much in a short time.

She nodded in reply to the woman, and dropped into a curtsy at her dismissal. But when the woman wandered off, Kitty couldn't help looking after her, a frown upon her face. That Brown was a strange woman indeed.

Once the Aes Sedai went out of sight, Kitty started searching for her roommate. She didn't have anything in particular she needed to do in the Library, and she figured the meeting with the Mistress of Novices was better to get over and done with as fast as possible. She wondered what the woman would think when she came back to her office already. After all, she had signed the Novice Book earlier that day.

Finding Suu wasn't easy, and after wandering down several aisles, she started wondering if she would even find her way out of this place. She stopped and started backtracking, hoping to find the exit, as finding her roommate seemed impossible. She thought she would be able to find her way back to their room, but she doubted she would find the way to the Mistress of Novices Office on her own. But would Suu be willing to show her the way? Somehow she doubted it, not right away at least.

She spotted Suu just at the same time as she spotted the large doors leading out of the Library. Stopping in her tracks, her eyes flicked back and forth as she tried to decide her course of action. Suu seemed occupied in a book where she sat, and she didn't think her roommate would appreciate the distraction. Making a decision, Kitty walked towards the large doors, intent on finding her way to the Mistress of Novices Office on her own.
