Mucking about [Attn: Av]

Post by Seayn » October 27th, 2016, 2:51 am

A little less than two hours until noon. It was a bit of a dreary day, sunlight muffled by the clouds that overcast the sky, giving a generally gloomy feel to the day already. It really wasn't the best of days to be out and about. The hallways of the Tower were bustling with life. Lower ranks required to be doing chores, Accepted and Dedicated going where they pleased, and the Tower's staff, which was always working. No weather was going to stop the work of the Flame and Fang of Hama Valon and they didn't expect anything less of those that were, more than likely, trying to inch their way into that position after them.

A tall man, wearing the black coat of an Ashaman in training, slowly walked up the stairs. His heavy footsteps echoed up and down the halls. The sound preceded his appearance for a distance as if he was purposely being as loud as he could. The people that heralded his approach were quickly walking from the edge of the stairs back to the center, snickers and laughter accompanying each of them. It wasn't obvious to those at the top the reason for the strange movements of the crowd.

Seayn's head created the top of the flight of stairs, his long and dirty blonde hair frazzled. Some of it stuck into a ponytail behind his back while some has escaped and fanned about his shoulders. His ponytail was lopsided and held his hair to the left, showing above his shoulder before it descended behind his back. His face, looking quite from, was dirty, mostly dust and sweat. His rise to the top of the steps revealed the reason for his stormy mood and the laughter of the others in the Tower. He was covered in horse dung from his chest down, looking, and smelling, like crap.

The Saldaean clomped to the top of the stairs, looking horrendously unhygienic. His full six foot and three inches of height loomed in his soiled coat and pants, splattering bits of the floor him with offal. Seayn's face was twisted into a grimace, looking nearly as menacing as the weather threatened to be soon. The young man let out a harrumph as he continued on his way to clean himself up.

Avyra was bored. She was inside, where she didn't want to be, patrolling the halls because there was nothing better to do. Of course, she hadn't expected anything interesting to come up.

Until she heard some snickering and commotion from a crowd. How odd. A smile lit up her face. She was going to have some fun with some novices.

She found the source, a group of three of them up to no good, with a path of large muddy bootprints beside them. She straightened herself up, giving a small cough. They all stopped and stared, and she crossed her arms.

"Do you want to go to Elia Sedai? Be off with you all." They didn't argue.

Now, for these tracks. Avyra smiled, following the prints up the stairs. Whoever did this was going to get in so much trouble. She was going to make them miserable. Was she mean? Maybe. But she was bored.

"Well, are you done turning our Tower into a horsepen?" She asked, turning a corner. "Or are you-" She stopped. The Soldier she had decided to chastise was bigger than expected. Could probably break her like a twig. And covered in muck. Well, too late to go back now. "Are you-" She stood on her toes a bit. "-going to clean this mess of yours up? As much as I enjoy horses, I don't appreciate them all over the Tower floors we just cleaned."

She crossed her arms, raising an eyebrow. Now she was having fun.

The large man turned slowly at the sound of a high pitched screeching, trying to coach his face into a blank mask that didn't hide the frustration bleeding through it. He watched the more average sized girl scurry off, as the littlest one, wearing a slightly different dress came up, trying to reprimand him .

"How old are you?" The Saldaean growled, craning his head down to stare directly at the girl's eyes, his narrowed into annoyed slits. "This is my new bloody home, isn't it? That means I should make myself comfortable, right?" He rasped, flicking a hand and flinging mud and questionably other materials on to the ground, dangerously close to the Accepted's dress. "And this feels a lot more like the farm back home."

Seayn turned his broad back to the girl, dismissing her in his annoyance. "And you can blame the bloody Aes Sedai or Warder or whoever taught their horse to knock people into the piles of manure that they're cleaning up like they were ordered!" He grunted back at the tiny ball of annoyance, continuing his walk back to his rooms.

So he wanted to play that game? Okay, she'd play that game. This wasn't fun anymore; his comment about her age stung like salt in an already open wound. But she kept her composure even after he snarled and whirrled off, as though she was done with him.

Avyra wasn't originally going to do this, she was going to have a bit of fun with him, but she didn't feel like fun was appropriate anymore. Embracing Saidar, she wove Air around his ankles and flipped him upside down, facing her.

"I should send you to the Master of Soldiers for speaking to an Accepted like that, Soldier," she emphasized their rank difference. "You owe quite a few people an apology, it seems. Myself, the Master of Soldiers, the Tower staff for needing to clean up your mess. Just to name a few. I'm actually good friends with the M'Hael, if you want me to put in a few words about you."

She stepped closer, gritting her teeth in annoyance. "And don't you ever come close to questioning my age again." She hadn't raised her voice once.

The goosebumps were pretty much a common occurrence here. The ones he got now were more substantial than usual, he had been told that meant someone near by had embraced Saidar but he hadn't expected to have deal with someone channeling against him so soon. Then suddenly he was upside down, spinning to face the tiny channeler. Seayn's face quickly became a splotchy, and angry red, the last vestiges of calm draining from his face.

"You think the Master of Soldiers would condone me missing class or, better yet, attending class covered in dung?! There aren't any servants outside to help me when it's about to storm, I have to groom myself again before the hour is through!" Seayn's bellowing reverberated down the halls, doing a partial upside down sit up to bring himself closer to the girl's face. "Do you think I'd believe the M'hael would give half a damn that a Soldier tracked mud in the hall? I'm probably going to have to spend the next week doing double chores!"

Seayn got quieter, his voice coming out in a deep rumble, the muscles of his jawline taut against his skin in between words. "This from a girl that barely reaches my chest, probably weighs about as much as a lamb when she soaking wet, and one that doesn't understand that she should probably..." He trailed off for a moment, rubbing a hand across the dirtiest, most caked, and still fresh part of the mess on his chest, "Shouldn't harass full grown men she doesn't know." He said before he reached out to smear his hand across part of her dress.

Avyra gritted her teeth, staring at this vile man before her. Had he any regard or respect? Even after she told him who she was?

"This from a girl that barely reaches my chest, probably weighs about as much as a lamb when she soaking wet, and one that doesn't understand that she should probably-" He paused. "Shouldn't harass full grown men she doesn't know." He wiped part of his mess on her dress.

She didn't move, meeting his eyes with her own firey green. "I'll have you know, I am full grown. I'm sorry that you have to result to attacking someone's demeanour in order to make your situation feel better. What a sad life that is." She crossed her arms. "But, while I might be a pathetic excuse for a person, at least I don't lumper around, tracking filth everywhere. No wonder why the horses kicked their crap on you. They must not like you very much."

As she spoke, she began to weave Air and Earth, taking all the mud out of her dress, dropping it on the floor.

"You better go clean this up. Once I'm done hanging you like a fish."

Seayn began to grit his teeth, beginning to get more and more frustrated as he dangled like a side of beef. He pulled off his splattered coat, dropping it to the ground beneath him and revealing an only somewhat stained and dirty white shirt underneath it. He began to pull himself towards his feet, clawing and yanking at the hardened air as if it would do something. He growled, taking a firm hold of each of the legs of his trousers ticked into his boots, yanking and straining the force holding him. His neck muscles bulged and his face turned wholly red before he let out a burst of air, letting go and hanging limply again.

Seayn stared blankly at the woman for a moment, slowly closing his eyes for a moment, his breath coming in little huffs as he panted. After a moment, he reopened. "Look at it this way, Accepted. You knew I was already going to be in trouble for this, yet you came over here to bother me. Don't you think it was uncalled for?" He asked, keeping his voice in a monotone that some would construe as mocking. "I have another class in less than an hour and I can't go to it, if I don't clean off. My only sets of clothing are in my room, therefore I have to go get them. What little time I have left with this hour of chore time will be spent retracing my own steps to clean up horse dung. Yes?" He let out a groan, most of the defiance leaking out of him. He hung from his feet quietly, his eyes closed and his breathing soft.

Avyra gave a mock smile. "Oh I'm sorry, you're so right." With that, she dumped him on the stone floor, not hard enough to hurt but hard enough to get some points across. "You look like you haven't had a bath in weeks. Surely this can't be all from the horses; I've done their stables before and have never gotten so dirty in my life."

She looked this guy up and down. Every dirt covered inch of him. He was livid with her, and would be unlikely to respond to any punishment. Whatever. That wasn't her job.

Avyra knew that she would have done the same when she was a Novice. She knew that she was always a troublemaker. Tracking mud inside was one of her tamer actions.

His words stung deep. She didn't know if he meant them, in his anger, but finally how everyone saw her sank in. She was truely worthless here. Nobody would ever take her seriously while she was the height of a child.

"I don't care what you do. Just clean it up," she growled softly, not meeting his eyes. Her tone had changed; there was a hint of hurt in it, something deeper than being reprimanded by a student.

She spun on her heels and began to stalk off, back to her room. Maybe she could cry there.

Seayn grunted as he landed on his coat, getting his dirty shirt especially filthy. He took a moment getting up, brushing himself off and rubbing at his bruised shoulder while she spoke more. "I'm not well raised, I'm from a farm. We couldn't afford to bathe daily." He said, looking down at his coat as he tried to decide whether or not to put the piece of clothing back on.

The young man finally looked back at his assailant, wondering if as a Soldier, he should've attempted to use the Power. It was against the rules for him, at least without supervision. And he only had an inkling of how to go about even sensing its presence. He waited for the tirade to go on, the face of long suffering innocence... but it didn't. She growled something at him that he barely heard and then began to storm away. Or maybe it wasn't storming. It seemed more dejected than that. Her voice had been full of hurt. Was she crying?

Seayn took off a jog, following the small female. "Hey, where are you going? You're acting like I just got on to you." He got in front of her, turning to face her and blocking her path with his broad shoulders. Seayn stared at her, his face full of a curious mix of annoyance and compassion.

Avyra heard footsteps behind her but she didn't turn. He would give up eventually. But he didn't give up. "Hey, where are you going? You're acting like I just got on to you."

Suddenly, he was in front of her, taking up what seemed like the entire hallway with his shoulders. She hissed in annoyance and backed up, craning up to him in pure defiance. He was about as tall as Terric was, but he was built like a mountain.

"Why do you care?" Avyra spat. "I haven't exactly been kind to you, and don't you have an important little class to get to, rather than tormenting, in your words, a girl who probably shouldn't harass fully grown men she doesn't know? I barely reach your chest; I'm not worth your time."

She made a move to get passed him, just wanting this to be over.
