A new adventure (open)
Walking into the grand hall of the grey tower, Donnie sees many people all hurrying about their own business. Trying not to get in anyone's way Donnie sets off to find someone who isn't busy to try to find more information on how the tower operates.
Re: A new adventure (open)
Mirin crossed the Great Hall on her way to the building that housed the novices and soldiers. The Aes Sedai swept along gracefully, her blue silks draped looser than usual to hide her growing belly. Her face was young, though not ageless (as she had unsworn the Oaths as soon as the Hall ruled it possible), and long dark hair tumbled in attractive waves down her back.
As she walked across the tiled floors, she noticed a tall young man wandering around looking lost. She narrowed her eyes. Why hadn't an Accepted or Dedicated helped him yet? She looked around and realized that it was too early in the morning for the learning ranks to have reported to their tasks. Well, it seemed that she would have to help this young man.
Mirin stepped toward the newcomer.
"Can I help you?" she asked. ---

Seeing a graceful, and youthful women glide across the tiles of the hall, thoughts of rumors began to fill Donnie's mind. Everyone said that you needed to be cautious of anything you said around an Aes Sedai less you end up agreeing to something you had no intentions on. Though the rumors always said that Aes Sedai had ageless faces, and as far as Donnie could tell this women looked rather youthful but not exactly ageless. As the youthful looking women came closer Donnie snapped back to reality. When asked if he needed any help Donnie was taken aback. Not sure how much of the rumors could possibly be true Donnie put on his best hopelessly lost traveler impression to see how much he could learn, but made a mental note not to say anything that could be taken as permission or agreement. Ruffling his hands through his hair trying to think of what to say Donnie paused. "Hello I just got here, I'm was just in a nearby village and heard rumor of this place and just had to come see if it really did exist. Though I am curios to see as much of the tower before I head out again, if that's okay?"
[Ooc Thank you for the warm welcome. Sorry about the shortness of the last post I had only just joined a short while before I left. I was gone for a few months and should probably get reacquainted with the rules once more. Although I don't have much practice role playing I do believe this will be fun. Again thank you, and I can't wait to write more.]

Mirin blinked slowly up at the young man. If he had been unpleasant, she would have snapped his head off. Figuratively, of course. But he didn't seem to mean ill. He simply seemed to be... uneducated. She looked him up and down, noting the plainness of his clothing and the dusty wear of his clothes. A young traveler, perhaps from a rural village. Mirin breathed out through her nose, striving to control her temper.
Finally she spoke.
"How did you get through the gate? The Grey Tower is not a tourist destination," she said. "I am Mirin Sedai of the Blue Ajah, and I serve as the Mistress of Novices. Please state your name and business. What, exactly, are you curious about? Would you like to be tested for the ability to channel?"

Donnie paused, wow she really is Aes Sedai Donnie thought to himself, I knew all of the rumors couldn't be spot on. Though the test is how I got thru the gate I wasn't planning on actually getting tested. Oh well, what's the worse thing that could happen I don't have the ability and get sent away, then it's back to the road to see more sights and seek more adventure. After a moment, continuing his lost wanderer impression, "Oh right the test, I apologize I was taken aback by the beauty of the city that I almost forgot. Yes I am here to be tested Aes Sedai. My name is Donnie Dovienya, and as for my curiosities I am just a wandering traveler trying to experience as much of the world as I can."
Re: A new adventure (open)
Mirin's brow furrowed. Light, what a twist of fortune. It was just her luck that she would find a new man seeking to be tested on a day that the Master of Soldiers, Jhanic, just happened to be gone from the Tower on personal business. Well, perhaps she could still find another Asha'man willing to help.
"Come with me," she said.
She lead him up the central staircase and through a few halls. As they walked, Mirin spoke.
"Tell me about yourself," she said. "Where are you from? What do you know of the Grey Tower? Why are you interested in being tested? And do you think you might have channeled before?"

Re: A new adventure (open)
Not sure what to make of everything going on, Donnie's mind flashes back to a game of dice he was certain he had won. The dice had lined up so nicely not quite a perfect five sixes, but he did get four and a five, one of the best rolls. Donnie gave a thoughtful look, as he remembered how even though he thought he had won, he still lost by almost impossible odds. Making a mental note not to be too arrogant and not to be sure of anything while talking to people who can as the rumors say "make the impossible happen". Donnie snapped back to reality, just as Mirin said "Come with me". Still not sure if he had gotten away with his whole act that got him this far, Donnie quickly followed behind Mirin.
As they walked up a set of beautifully cut stairs, Mirin spoke asking to know more about Donnie and what his reasoning for being tested might be. Trying to keep his time with the Aes Sedai short, Donnie spoke what truth he had.
"Where are you from?"
Donnie answered with a small description of his home but didn't go into much detail. "I was born and raised in a small hunting village in Andor. It is located between a forest and the side of a mountain. There is always game in the forest, and sometimes the wolves and bears come out to attack travelers".
"What do you know of the grey tower?" Mirin asked as they walk down a well lit hall.
"Well I've only recently heard of it, and the rumors only cover that the grey tower exists, and that this is a place where men and women can study the one power in peace" Donnie answered.
"Why are you interested in being tested, and do you think you might have channeled before?"
As could be expected, the Aes Sedai wanted to know why he wanted to be tested, thinking it over, saying "I only said that to get past the gate" was definitely not a good idea.
Pausing to think about the question for a moment Donnie responded "I figured if I were to have the ability I should find out about it in a safe environment where it could possibly be stopped if it were to get out of control. So I suppose you could say I want to be tested for the peace of mind that no one will get hurt if I do have the ability. As for if I have channeled before, no I don't believe I have, I would just like the peace of mind knowing if I can or not, and if so that their would be Aes Sedai around to stop me if I were to get out of control."
As Donnie finished answering the Aes Sedai's questions, they emerged in what seemed to be a grand hall. There were a few people talking in the corners of the room, and Donnie could see them all looking in their direction. "This Aes Sedai must be ranked high on the food chain to have such a reaction from everyone" Donnie thought to himself.
OOC: Sorry about any inconsistencies in my posts I actually don't have a lot of time to write in my current circumstances, about an hour to two hours of free time each evening (during which I have to call my family and friends to make sure everything is okay back at home). If the inconsistencies grow annoying because I don't have enough time to write more professionally let me know and I will just become a spectator once more until I have more free time.
