Spending so much time with Dreams upon her, it never surprised her who or what lingered at the edge of this waking world or what things they may say or do. Neither was he surprised by things said to the former Amyrlin, or her reaction. The only surprise there was that Sojin had needed to say anything. Mia remembered her friend as perfectly headstrong on her own.

And what else he said was not a surprise either, but only because of what Sebrina Gaidin (ooc: just changing uses now) had said as she departed. Perhaps it would not have surprised her even without that. Then again, maybe it would have. She had never had any intention of marrying again...but, she never had any intention of falling in love again.

Look how that turned out.

Outwardly, her blue-green eyes danced as she watched him. The spark in his matched the spark in hers, which was perhaps the secret to how well together they worked. "You know, Sojin Majere," she said almost playfully, "I've heard more romantic proposals before. I ought to say no and make you ask me again when you can do it better."

Sojin would have responded or smiled at Miahala's comment if his mouth was not so full of the pork he just eaten. So instead, he let his eyes do the speaking while he chewed and gestured with his now empty fork toward the two swords … his jian to be precise, not the heron-marked broadsword that had belonged to a Whitecloak.

When Miahala brought back to him, he placed his fork beside a now half-empty plate. Never one to waste a minute or the fact he might know where his next meal might come from, he'd attacked the plate like a Tairen would an Illianer would in a verbal spar.

As Sojin took the sword, he loosened a secret pocket in the scabbard and pulled from it a simple silver necklace, attached to it a small emerald.

He looked at Miahala and smiled quietly. “Caleb Ashe, the man who raised Solin and myself, insisted that we learn history, especially that of House Majere,” he murmured. “Like the Walker family, we came from the Caralain, and were raised high by the first kings of that nation. Unlike House Walker, who decided to remain with that nation as it started to decline and its population left, the Majeres emigrated to Tar Valon, and became a powerful family. But we still remembered our ways, at least for a time.”

He lifted the necklace for a better view. “While I was at Walker Manor over the last several weeks, I did some more research into House Walker's side. They kept the same traditions, even after Caralain ceased and the Lady Ioyna, High Seat at the time, bended knee to the Queen of Andor. Among those traditions was one of marriage proposal, in which a supplicant proposed with a simple necklace. Commoners used simpler metals like copper or silver, and a river stone, while the nobility used gold and encrusted with gemstones.”

His eyes were on Miahala's as he spoke, filled with earnest emotion and love. “Silver seemed the best choice for this occasion, with an emerald denoting the Ajah you came from,” he said softly. “I'd say something profound and flowery, but I'm not one for such eloquence. Actions speak louder, and you already know my heart. Simply put, Miahala Sha'hal, would you consent to marriage and be my wife?”

Mia's graceful, slender hand reached out and the tips of her fingers rested beneath the pendant. She looked at the green, glittering in the dim light of the room, and her heart swelled in a way that she never thought it would again. Not even in expectation with him. It was something different than just love, a moment like this.

It was one thing to love, and another to say that love was something you wished to hold for eternity, in word and bond and did and before the eyes of all those around you and the Creator. To ask that your threads be permanently intertwined in the pattern. Mia's threads were quite intertwined after so long a life, but she would have it no other way.

"Was that so hard?" she said, her full lips in their teasing, sultry whisper but her eyes glittering with emotion to reflect his. "I shall, Sojin Majere, be yours in not just heart and body, but name and future. All that I am shall be yours."
