New home, Fresh faces (atten:Willow)

Post by Siera » January 23rd, 2015, 3:58 am

Lirievin strolled down the HallWays. She had been at the Tower for some time now so she was starting to finally get to know her way around. The tower had always seemed large and overwhelming to her- when she first got here she thought she would never get use to it. But with all things in time you learn.

Liri was not rushed this morning as she had got up far sooner then any Novice would have done willing . She wanted to get a head start on the day and maybe do some reading for her studies. After getting a light breakfast Liri was heading back to her room to grab some items before heading off to the library.

She turned a corner down the hall where her room was at and immediately noticed that the door was open. Liri had not yet gotten a roommate so she hurried to the room. She knew she had shut it on her way out. Turning into the room Liri saw why; in the room was a young girl not much older then herself. In her hands was a pile of Novice clothes so Liri knew that she was a new Novice. Putting a smile on her face Liri went over to the girl.
"Good Morning!" She said cheerfully. "I am Lirievin Tesiva. You must be my new roommate". She finished holding out her hand for the new Novice to shame.

Willow’s head was still spinning. The trip from Cairhien to the Grey Tower had been a long one on horseback. Meeting the Mistress of Novices, an interesting experience with lots to take in, left her mind still spinning. Now, she found herself with only a few of her actual belongings. It seemed she’d packed too much to go to the Grey Tower, since it was all put away against the time she’d either be put out of the Tower or attain the Shawl. Willow knew it’d be the latter.

She was dressed in a plain brown dress, the skirts divided for riding. It was made of fine wool, her family in Cairhien were fairly well off, running a well-established and quality inn. She cringed a little at the dresses in her arms as she set them on the bed. She couldn’t imagine wearing all white for the next who-knew-how-long as if she was forever in mourning. She shrugged a little and sighed, it couldn’t be helped. She had just finished placing her brush and comb on the wash-stand, what she assumed was her side of the wash stand anyway.

There were two beds in the room, two simple wardrobes, one wash-stand and one mirror. It was clear she would be sharing this room with another woman though the Mistress of Novices failed to say who she would be sharing the room with. She could only assume another novice, but she had no idea. She hoped the woman would accept her as a roommate, she knew some preferred their privacy and the idea of sharing with another woman had been a bit of a surprise to Willow at first, herself.

She started when another woman entered the room and approached her. The girl introduced herself, dressed all in white, she was clearly a novice herself. Willow smiled to her and shook her hand. “Willow Hathoren, yes I suppose I am! I just got here today.” She said warmly, her smile touching her big brown eyes. “Have you been in the Tower long?” She asked curiously of the woman.

Liri smiled at her new roommate as she introduced herself. She remember just how hard it had been when she first come to the Tower so Liri knew how nice a warm, friendly face was. Sitting down on her bed Liri looked back at Willow. "I've been here a few months now." She said, now thinking about it she couldn't remember exactly how long she had been at the Tower. She had been so busy with classes, studying, practice and learning from her mentor, Cara Sedai.

Although Liri wasn't quite sure of what to say, she had never had a roommate in her life before so this was something new to her but she knew that she should say something or they may end up never talking. "You just arrived today?" She asked, although she was almost sure of the answer. "Where did you travel from?" She continued this time pausing allowing Willow to answer.

Willow nodded to the other novice as she finished putting the few belongings she was allowed to keep away neatly before turning towards her bed, she scowled a little at her dress. It was going to take some getting used to, to wear all white. She smiled as Liri continued to speak. She nodded again, “yes, I just arrived today. They sent me here to change and put my things away after I signed the novice book.”

Slowly she removed her brown dress, folded it and placed it on the bed before changing into a clean shift and finally, the novice dress. She sighed a little. “Wearing white, like you’re in mourning, all the time is going to take some getting used to.” Once she had pulled the dress over her head and brushed her short auburn hair back into place, Willow sat on her bed smiling at Liri.

She cleared her throat before speaking. “My family is from Cairhien, we run a nice inn there.” She seemed a little nervous at divulging those details. She was told not to talk of wealth or rank in society outside of the Grey Tower. All novices were equal once they were signed into the novice book, regardless of who they were before the Tower. She smiled at the woman “What about you?” If Liri was going to ask such a question of her, it would only be polite to ask the same. She shook her head a moment after that thought, this woman was to be her roommate, they hardly needed to play Daes Dae’mar here and certainly not against each other. No, she would certainly need to work on breaking that habbit.

Liri smiled a little. She remember her own reluctance when it came to wearing white all the time, but before long there was just too much too keep track of and it was just easier to not have to worry about what you had to wear. In fact in ways she was actually was glad Novices were only to wear white, it made her life a lot easier.

Liri continued to listen as Willow told her where she was from. "Cairhien, I've always wanted to go there." It had always seemed like an interesting place and Liri had wanted to visit- she wanted to visit everywhere but that was beside the point. "My family is from Kandor" she said with a sad smile. She still missed her family and her brother causing trouble. Before she could think too long Liri heard bells and jumped off her bed.

"That's the morning bells." she said hurriedly. "Which means I have to get to class or I'll be late. Do you start classes today?" She asked grabbing her things off the table beside her bed.
