Shadow thought he heard someone walking away nearby but heard nothing else so ignored it. It wasn't uncommon here in the Tower. Most likely it had been a servant or even another member who just happened to be going in the other direction.

He forced his attention back to the girl beside him. "I was raised in the Two Rivers" He said slightly cautiously. He wasn't one for giving too much away. It wasn't so much the had didn't trust people, he didn't but that was beside the point in the case, but that he simply wasn't very good at talking to people. He found that words just didn't seem to work for him. The always seemed fake or insufficient to him. At the end of the day they accomplished nothing were as action on the other had achieved something. Not always something good but something none the less.

He glanced around him at the plain corridors of the Tower to check where they were. He knew that area. It was near the bottom of the Tower and near the outside. He caught a glimpse out a window and saw sun and blue sky before refocusing again on the conversation. Light he was getting distracted easily today. He didn't know what it was. Tiredness probably.

(Muuurr sorry jenny <3)

Avyra could hear the insecurity in his voice. So he didn't like sharing his past, hm? That was interesting, and something she'd remember for quite a while.

"Two Rivers? I've been wanting to go, but never have had the pleasure of going. It seems like such a nice place." She sighed, looking up at the sky. Sure, it was nice here, but for the most part if felt fake. So odd.

"I'm from Cairhien, myself. If you already couldn't tell." She paused. "We aren't exactly known for our height. But anyway, I was appearently born with the Power. And I accidentally lit the kitchen on fire with it. Didn't go over too well in my house; my father is afraid of Aes Sedai." Maybe, if she was open, he would open up too. "He ran off. No idea where though."

Shadow listened to the girl's little speech. Cairhien made sense based on her height. He'd never been there but he had heard about their lack of height from other members of the Tower.

As for being born with the Power. He had been born with it as well although he had been discovered before it had quickened in him. As a result he had never destroyed or damaged anything by accident.

"I've never been to Cairhien is it nice there?" He asked before continuing. "As for the Two Rivers. It is nice but it is also really empty. Everyone's spread out through the whole place" He said slightly wistfully staring of in the direction of the Two Rivers. He wished he was back there now. Except for the fact that he didn't. It was complicated he thought sighing mentally. Everything he knew was there and everything which he had grown used to was there yet he was new, fresh and exciting. It was a change from the monotony of life. And then there was the Power itself, it was like life itself. If nothing else it alone was worth being here for. Simply the chance to experience and learn about it made life itself worth while.

Can I ask that we try to finish this today. I would like to submit Shadow's rising requirements today or tomorrow if at all possible. Sorry if this is a pain.

(Not sure how possible that is; today is super busy for me. I have a large volunteer project and won't be home by mid-afternoon. I don't have to leave for a few hours though.)

Avyra shrugged. "Its okay. Not too much goes on. Surely its not as interesting is here, in the Tower." She paused. "I really do like it here. Its so... peaceful." It really was. There seemed to be nothing that could ever go wrong. Nobody would dare attack such a place with all the Aes Sedai around, so they didn't have any fear of armies. She still wasn't even sure if Darkfriends existed. She hadn't met one, she knew for sure, because if she had she'd probably be dead. But nevertheless, they hadn't come for this place. It was just... serene.

Especially today, where the sun was shining and the sky was clear as a dream. "Honestly, I come outside and really the only thing I want to do is roll in the perfect grass." She laughed. "But that would ruin my dress, and that's frowned upon. Not like the thing fits, anyway. And this is after the tailor altered the smallest one on the rack." She seemed a little irritated by this fact. "Not too sure what I expected."

This was really, really awkward. She didn't want to fall into silence, but she was having trouble making conversation. Or rather, keeping the conversation flowing.

Shadow listened and laughed slightly at her urge to lying on the grass and roll about. It would be entertaining to watch. It would also probably get them a sound thrashing for it.

"It took them near a month to get one which actually fitted me. You would think that the Grey Tower would be able to keep cloths big enough for its recruits." He said slightly scornfully. They were after all one of the richest organisations in the world and had vast reserves of money and other resources.

He looked up at the sun and the sky and sighed. He didn't get outside nearly enough. He spend too much time working and studying. It was nice to walk outside for once. He needed the fresh air and the break from the inside of the Tower. It was nice enough but it did grow very boring and repetitive once you discovered that the whole Tower looked the same on the inside. The slight breeze on his skin was nice. It was warm apart from the breeze and that helped to stop it from getting too hot and making it insufferable. As it was he didn't handle the heat well and preferred the cold, or at the very least neutrals temperatures.

(Don't worry about it. As a note what time zone are you in that way I can figure out if I'm up when you get back in. I'm in GMT.)

(I think I'm... gmt +8? American central time. Its 7 in the morning here.
I'll be gone until about 2/14:00 this afternoon. But I'm not leaving for another two hours or so. So we can probably wrap up the conversation in that time if you really want to.)

Avyra gave an amused huff. "Well, I'm fairly sure I'm the shortest woman in the Tower by a few inches, so I doubt they were expecting someone my size. I'm small even by Cairhienin standards. Everyone here is pretty much a giant."

She paused, watching him a moment. He seemed rather content to be outside, as though he didn't get out often enough with his studies. She xould understand that. The only reason why she spent so much time outside was because she always pushed her work and studies to last minute. It probably wasn't very smart.

"But besides that, do you like it here? Being a soldier?" She paused, looking back to the path. "I would have thought it to be similar to being a novice, but the two are worlds apart, even though we can both channel."

"I have to say it is good here. I wouldn't want to leave. Not anytime soon at least." He said looking back up at the great mass of the Tower itself. It was stunning to look but at the same time daunting and terrifying. The sheer amount of power that was held here was insane. It was probably one of the safest places in the world and certainty one of the most well protected. After all who would dare attack a place full of hundreds of channelers and warders. It would be death to anything shy of an entire army, or several. After all there were the city guard who protected the city and the channelers. Or kept them in as he sometimes thoughts.

"As for being a soldier. Its well... interesting. I don't know how different it is from being a Novice but it is hard. We don't have much room for mistakes when channeling. Our half of the source is... Unforgiving a best." Shadow said as he looking around.

They were walking down a tree lined path in the Tower ground. He vaguely knew where it was and was confident he could find his way back should they get lost.

(Don't worry about it. If we cant finish it today then we can do it tomorrow.)

"Not wanting to leave is probably good," Avyra said with a small, wishful sigh. "They don't like it when channelers try to leave. Drin, maybe, could get away with it. But not channelers."

Did she want to leave? She didn't quite know for sure. Everything was so confusing in her head. As much as she wanted to be here, she still felt like she didn't belong. She didn't look like someone who was going to be an Aes Sedai. She didn't even look like a noble.

"Unforgiving? How so? I've never talked about male channeling before, so I'm not entirely too sure what makes the two sides separate." She paused. "I only know that you have to be more violent when embracing it. Or whatever you guys to. We embrace the Source. Sort of... gently touch it and let it take us."

"Unforgiving is definitely the word I would use. While we do have to be more violent with the source we have to keep being violent. If we stop and lose focus or control for just second then..." He trailed of not needing to say anymore.

It was a dark thought. If they drew to much then they would either burn themselves out or die. Not nice. Not nice at all. There was also the slight possibility that they would lose control and do damage to those around them. Really damage. There were stories of entire towns vanishing when male channelers lost control. They were rare and probably dated from the time when the source was tainted but even so... He didn't want to think about that, no male channeler did. It was the one thing which truly scared them. The thought of going insane once more. He shivered slightly at the thought. No, he must not think about that. Those days were past and now the source was pure and clean once more.

He fired his attention back to the girl walking next to him. Waiting on her response to his dark statement. Had he been too blunt. He had said something wrong.

(that's me on for the next few hours. Sorry about that last hour or so)

She shrugged. "But that is the nature of the One Power. It is dangerous for everyone, which is why we here are all taught how to use it. To not be a threat."

She lowered her head, remembering. Remembering the fire. Her father screaming at her. Her mother crying tears of joy for her power but tears of sorrow when her father left them to basically die. For the first time her sister had been afraid of her. She was glad that didn't last.

She had been a threat. She couldn't bear it.

"I never asked for this. I don't want this. The One Power... it ruined my life. I'm not even cut out to be an Aes Sedai."
