Avyra looked delighted when he got a note out. It was breathy, a bit of a ghost tone, but a note nonetheless. It had been the same for her, on her first try. "Now, to get a more clear sound-" She paused, thinking, making the proper embouchure with her face, getting her thoughts together before continuing. "Pull the corners of your lips down a tad, and keep them firm, but not stiff." She paused. "Don't be afraid of the note you might make, too."

Welcome to the Gardens: one of the most tranquil areas of the Tower Grounds. Birds sing in the trees which line the wide paths between beautiful flower beds and serene lakes. There are benches to sit and listen to the waterfall, and there is neatly trimmed grass to lie on and rest. Novices and Soldiers as well as Warders in Training can be seen, sweeping the stone paths as Accepted and Dedicated study from books and relax under leafy trees.

Danos
Danos chuckled as Avyra warned him not to be afraid of the notes that would come from the flute. And he watched as she pursed her lips, mimicking her and again blowing across the flute.
Avyra was correct, the sound was richer and fuller out of the instrument, and as he flexed his fingers, Danos noticed each hole made a different note when uncovered. "Incredible, how long have you practiced this instrument Avyra?"

"Since I was really young," Avyra replied. "I actually had to grow into this particular instrument." She paused, starting to explain the notes. "The patterns are mostly memorization, actually. Most don't make notes, some make the same notes as another. It all has to do with how much air escapes the instrument. The sound comes from all the holes, not just the end." She paused, showing him a few more fingerings for some of the easier notes, a small scale in the mid-range. "A few of these fingerprints can make octives, but I'll cover those later." The fingerings were easy; it was a pattern.

Danos
Danos wasn't entirely sure what an Octive was, and he wasn't surprised to hear that Avyra had been learning since a
child. The pattern Avyra showed him was easy enough to follow, and the tune was a simple melody he recognized from village fairs.
Smiling he finished the melody, and handed Avyra her flute back. "Thank you for the lesson, I will have to see if I can find one for myself later. Maybe when we can go to Hama Valon, there must be a shop there," said Danos gratefully.
Standing, Danos could feel the wind off the garden was growing cooler, it would be time for the last meal soon. "Would you care for a walk to the Mess Hall Avyra?"

Avyra thought for a moment. "I might have another flute with my stuff, but I'll have to check if I packed it or not. If I find it, you can have it. I don't need it anymore." She paused as he stood, and she smiled, craning her head to meet his eyes. She didn't even reach his chest. "I would love one, thank you." It was getting rather late; she could see hints of orange in the sky now, and the temperature had dropped a bit. She never liked being outside at night; she got cold easily.

Danos
Danos was touched when Avyra offered to look for a spare instrument in her belongings. He knew that much like him, Novices did not have a wealth of possessions.
"Thank you Avyra, that would be great. If you do find one, I look forward to learning more. Perhaps we will manage a duet one day, far from now," said Danos warmly.
He walked with the Novice to the meeting hall, his stomach rumbling after a days hard work.

Avyra smiled. "I've never done a duet before. But I think we could, easily. You learn quickly, far quicker than my first day. I couldn't get a sound out. Honestly, I was about to quit. But I kept going." She was enjoying the walk, save for needing to walk faster to keep up with his larger stride. The Gardens in the evening were always pretty to her, but she felt like it would be frowned upon for her to spend the night out there. They had a ton of rules here. She could, however, hear how hungry Danos was. "They do work you hard over there, don't they?" She wouldn't know. She actually wasn't very hungry herself.
(I did some poking around but couldn't find a huge grounds map? If it exists? So idk where they're going. Do the warders have their own mess hall separate from the aes sedai or is it together?
I would have written more but I can't without info on this ahhh)

Danos
Danos could see that Avyra was having to almost hop to keep a long with his stride, and he slowed to allow her a more comfortable pace. He hadn't thought of the difference in height before, especially sitting with her and learning from her, but Danos made a mental note to endeavour to keep it in mind.
Walking slower, he looked around at the Grey Tower, struck by the sheer number of people determined to make a life here, and how quickly it was becoming to look like home. His stomach rumbled loudly, and he chuckled good naturedly at her question.
"They do yes, I know we're supposed to mutter something about blades and forging, but in some respects it's not that much harder than my apprenticeship. Different demands on the body and mind, but my Uncle had no use for layabouts either. I guess it's the only way to try and pack a lifetime of training and soldering into us," Danos said as he thought about all the chores, classes and sparring. "Plus if we were left to our own devices, most of us would simply get into trouble of one sort or another. Especially learning to do what we can do," said Danos with a smile.
OOC: I'm not too sure if they share a Hall for meals or not. Re: Noteworthy [attn; Damien]
(Yeah, let's just go with that. I don't think it matters too much, anyway)
Avyra shrugged. "Well, even supervised I bet us beginners would still get into trouble." She paused. "I actually spent my first few days in my freetime trying to climb trees here." She paused again, chuckling. "And I fell out. Ravak Gaidin caught me." She shook her head. "And I had no idea who he was. I totally smarted off to him. Actually, if I recall, I threatened to send him to the Master of Training when he threatened to send me to the Mistress of Novices. Now, that worked out well for me. I'm shocked he didn't actually send me to Mirin Sedai's office for that one." As they entered the Tower and down the hall to the kitchens, Avyra suddenly realized how hungry she too was. It had been a while since she had last eaten, now that she thought of it. The mess hall was a bustle, people everywhere. Seriously, how many people lived here? It was still a shock for Avyra.

Danos
Danos stared incredulously at Avyra, he could no more have imagined mouthing off to Master Darrow than he could have charging into a corral with a raging wild stallion. "I am surprised that didn't land you at the office more than once. Your apology after that must have been a sight," chuckled Danos as he weaved through the crowd.
Many of the kitchen staff knew the tall Drin'far'ji, and Danos took the time to wave or say hello to each of them as they paused in their labours to speak with him. He had long ago learnt the art of sweet talking a cook out of extra portions, a talent learned by any boy who grew to be as tall and wide as Danos. Here the staff were friendly, and in conversing with them he had gotten to know many of the families who had also attached themselves to the Grey Tower.
After sitting at a spare bench, Danos took the time to wait for Avyra to get settled before asking, " What possessed you to go climbing the trees anyways? And in a Novice dress as well. Did you spend a lot of time outdoors and that before coming here?" asked Danos. He knew his own woodsman skills were limited, and wondered if perhaps Avyra knew some.
