| He stood up, stretching, and she gave a half frown. She didn't like to be seated near a standing man of his height; she already felt small enough. So she stood, too, on the bench. From that height, she barely reached his shoulders. "I'm sure adventure will come calling for both of us soon enough, and we really should get you back soon. I'm sure standing in the lamplight in the Warder Yard will not win you any points with Mirin Sedai," he said. Avyra rolled her eyes. "Not much of what I do wins me points with Mirin Sedai. But, thus is my life." She paused, stepping down from the bench, rather reluctantly. "I suppose we should go back to our quarters." She paused. "But I wouldn't turn down an escort on ny way back to the Novices' rooms." There was a playful smile on her lips. "Because, who knows. I might get attacked by a tree." |

Danos
Danos chuckled as Avyra stood on the bench and bit his lip to resist the urge to place his hand on her head like he had done to his cousin so many times.
When she hopped down and asked him for an escort, he laughed as she teased about the trees lying in wait, "Oh by now I'm sure the trees have learned to listen for your footfalls. Maybe you need to get an ax for Winternight this year."
As he walked down the paths with Avyra he was glad to see a glimmer of humour had returned. He felt poorly for not returning feelings she possessed, and not having handled it better.
Still if she's laughing now that has to be a good sign Danos thought to himself. He had recently come to grips with a nightmare that had been plaguing him, and he knew that of many friends he hoped to count for his years ahead; Avyra numbered high among them.
And so he deftly matched his stride to hers, familiarity with each other ensuring he didn't outpace her with his ground eating stride. The hour was late, so they past few others, mostly trainees rushing back to their quarters from the Library.

| Avyra took his arm as he led her to her quarters, resisting the urge to lean against him. For now, she just wanted to enjoy this. Today had been... odd... well, this meeting in general. This was most certainly not what she had pictured her evening going like. But still, it felt good. She had gotten a few pressing weights off her chest, and she knew that doing so was better than keeping it all locked up. She felt free, finally. Not free of everything, but free enough to finally enjoy this moment. To her, it was perfect. The weather was pristine, the moon and stars had come out to play in the pretty dark blue sky. A few fireflies could be seen out in the gardens. The weather was cool, rather cold, actually, but that was only a minor complaint she could find. And she was sharing it with one of her greatest friends at the Tower. Danos had been so kind to her this evening that she didn't know what to say. Or do, for that matter. She owed him so much, but she had nothing to give. When they neared the building she stopped, then leaned up on her toes to give him another one of her tiny bear hugs. She couldn't reach around his neck here, so she had to settle with his ribs, which would have been fine if she could have actually wrapped her arms around them. "Thank you, again. If you ever need anything at all, please don't hesitate to find me. I'm always here to listen if you need it, Danos." |

Danos
Danos returned Avyra's hug, careful to be gentle with the much smaller Novice as her arms wrapped around him.
"Your welcome Avyra, I'm glad to help with getting the spring back in your step. And I'm sure I will come for help beaten and bruised many times in our time at the Grey Tower. I suppose the Drin'far'ji should be told to make best friends with Yellow aspirants," Danos said with a warm chuckle.
It had surprised Danos how quickly he had come to regard Avyra as a true friend, and he knew he would be cheering the day she showed him her Great Serpent ring.
For now he was glad that the little he had to give, mostly encouragement and advice had helped her as much as it had.
"I should go, but make sure you don't let yourself feel so down before you come by to talk. Even if you have to sit on a stall post while I chop wood or muck the stables, I can make time for a friend," said Danos as he gave Avyra a parting hug before heading back to his rooms.
The night had turned crisp, and he smiled as the mountain air showed the clear sparkling starlight.
