He accepted the bottle from her, “You see, I was facing off against twenty men armed with bows and halberds and I had reviled myself with the intentions to make peace. If I had tried to fight I wouldn’t have made it out alive,” he gave an exaggerated shrug, “I’m not, Shae’en M’taal. A warrior should know when to dance the spears and when to follow other paths. I actively sought peace. I should have never entered the clearing they never saw me.” A hint of anger and contempt slid into his voice, “These men had nothing but fear in their hearts. They saw a ‘scary Aielman’ and ignored my attempt at reparations. I offered to trade a gold necklace for the birds.” He took a long pull on the brandy, mentally reminding himself that he’d met plenty of honorable Wetlanders sense, “Their greedy Rat of a leader pocketed the necklace, before having me clubbed over the head.” He forced expression of cheer to his face, “At least I spent the next week amusing myself scaring prison guards while they underfed me,” he looked into the bottle before taking another pull, “Now that I think of it, that might be why they underfed me. Well I’m here now. I’ve met Wetlanders who have a shred of honor. I won’t try to reclaim my belongings because of my own promises.” He passed the bottle and laid his head back against the wall. He’d glossed over details for a reason. They were rather embarrassing, and most Wetlanders wouldn’t understand.

As Terric related the details of his story Elaile listened attentively. "It was good of you to offer reparations and I am sorry that those men were the first Westerners you had the misfortune to meet." She couldn't imagine how hard it would be to enter a land completely new to you and then be attacked by the first people you met. Elaile was impressed that Terric managed to recognize that not all Wetlanders were like that.
She leaned back next to him and watched the other members of their group ineffectually try to scale the barracks wall to prove who was the strongest, all the while discordantly belting out another bawdy song.
"You know-obviously- I don't know much about the Aiel, but I would like to. Maybe sometime you and I could meet and you could teach me a little more about your people...I guess my people too..." She trailed off as she heard the crunch of heavy footsteps on gravel. Thankfully the men had given up their song and were now just lounging in the shadows finishing off the second bottle of brandy. The night was quiet but it was clear someone was coming up the path directly towards them. Elaile quickly motioned to the others and sank back into the shadows of the wall.
A fall of moonlight illuminated the path leading to the barracks and Elaile's breath caught as she recognized Asha'man Raldrin and Larellia Sedai walking straight towards them. Elaile had had class with Larellia Sedai before and thought the kind-hearted Blue may let them go with just a stern lecture, but Asha'man Raldrin had a reputation for a quick temper and Elaile doubted he would see things the same way. She looked towards Terric with wide eyes "Do you think they've seen us? What should we do?" she whispered, keeping a close eye on the two as they slowly ambled towards the Barracks.
OOC: I actually can't remember what the people of Randland are called amongst themselves! Sorry if "Westerners" is the wrong term...I was thinking West of the Dragonwall but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!

Terric
She was wrong about one thing, those weren’t the first Wetlander’s he had met. On his journey across the Wetlands he had occasionally donned a Wetlander’s coat and gone into town to ask about the thief. It had always been a bit awkward, but it had become a necessity after his first river crossing. Some experiences would only ever be repeated under duress. She began to ask him about the Three-fold Land. Why did all these Novices want to know about his homeland? Maybe she had more cause than most seeing as her father was Aiel. The sound of footsteps snapped him out of his musings. Even intoxicated, certain instincts never dulled. He stilled his heartbeat and his breathing melting into the shadows as the footsteps approached. He hoped that the others would manage to escape detection.
An Asha’man and Aes Sedai passed by on their way to the Barracks, deep in conversation. He wondered what business they had there, but that was a question for another night. He wouldn’t even know where to start asking. As for now, he needed to make sure he wasn’t caught. As the couple moved out of hearing range, Elaile whispered, “Do you think they've seen us? What should we do?"
Terric whispered back, careful to keep his voice from traveling, “If they had, they wouldn’t have kept going.” He held up his hand, cautioning her to wait. He counted sixty seconds. Nothing. “Let’s get these bottles thrown away and get back to our quarters. That was a close call and we have lessons in the morning.” He made good on his words, collecting Gaval Hanania who wasn’t in any shape to get back alone, and began making his way to the back entrance of the Barracks.

Terric seemed unconcerned by the passing Aes Sedai and Asha'man and Elaile squinted to see him as he replied to her whispered concerns. The man seemed to have made himself nearly invisible- and without using the One Power! Elaile filed that away as a useful skill to learn.
“If they had, they wouldn’t have kept going.” He held up his hand, cautioning her to wait.
Elaile rolled her eyes at him in the dark. He seemed to think she was daft enough to go rushing out just as the danger had passed. She kept a wary eye on the corner the Aes Sedai had disappeared around and wondered just what those two had been going to do. She knew that the Aes Sedai and Asha'man socialized, but they had seemed....furtive if possible. Elaile briefly wondered if they were involved, romantically. She smiled, the kind Blue deserved some happiness.
"Let’s get these bottles thrown away and get back to our quarters. That was a close call and we have lessons in the morning.” Terric said.
Elaile nodded, and helped him with the bottles. She waved to him as he herded the drunk Drin off towards the Barracks and slipped through the dark evening back to the Novice corridors.
