OOC NOTE: I received permission from Jaryd for the auto of his character before posting it.
Herarn left the office of the Master of Soldiers following another Soldier who was to give him a tour of the grounds. He had been given a rundown of the most basic rules the Grey Tower had for it's Soldiers and he was still surprised that he would be expected to not channel without a Dedicated or Accepted on hand to 'guide' him. Had it not been a general rule, he'd have been insulted.
Of all the rules that the Grey Tower had given to their newest recruits he knew that that would be the one that Seth would be handing out the most punishments for. The Black Tower had ingrained the use of the One Power into their recruits to be used for everything. From heating your own meals to chores and uniform maintenance. Now they were expected to stop all of that.... immediately.
Herarn already knew he would be violating another list of strictures repeatedly. No lying. No leaving Tower grounds without permission or an escort. He decided he would requisition a journal from the Quartermaster. He would owe a very large amount of toh by the time this was all said and done. They went to the Stables so Herarn could retrieve his things. Seth had granted them permission to use their own uniforms. No sense in burning perfectly functional uniforms and equipment.
Then it had been up to the Soldier's barracks where he was bunked with Addric, which would work out wonderfully for any number of reasons. Not the least of which was that he could trust his roommate to keep his mouth shut. From there, they started on the tour.
Along the way, the two Soldiers encountered a man who was not in any kind of uniform, but Herarn's guide immediately bowed respectfully to. Herarn looked the man over and could have sworn he recognized the man but for the life of him couldn't place where he's seen him.
“Herarn, meet Jaryd Kosari the....” said the other Soldier but Herarn didn't hear him over the roar of saidin as it flooded into him. He wasn't even fully charge before flows of Air and Fire spun out at a dizzying speed with Jaryd as the target. The other Soldier didn't know what was going on, but he had enough sense to run away.
The other man, Jaryd, reacted immediately by snapping a Ward against the One Power around him just as Herarn's weave took effect with explosive results. The carpet around the man was burned down to the stone foundation, several wall hangings were just gone entirely or scarred irrevocable. But the biggest tell were the two huge gaping holes in the walls behind him that allowed the rain to bleed into the hallway.
Not to be outdone, stomped on the floor kicking up chunks of stone with flows of Earth before sending them flying with Air. The Ward might protect him against direct assaults against his person with the One Power but it wouldn't protect against something thrown with intense force unless he changed the weaving of his Ward.
“Time to pay for your crimes Rogue. Your head will hang from the branches of the Traitor's Tree before morning.” snapped Herarn with a detached sense of anger. He didn't know how strong this Rogue was, so he felt the best way to kill him would be to overwhelm him if he could. Channeling thick weaves of Air with thin almost hairlike tendrils of Fire wove Ball Lightning and snapped it at him from through the gaping holes in the wall. It didn't hurt that the storm was already raging outside.
