Alric
The library was usually a place of quiet study and contemplation. Braking that quiet wasn’t quite something a Dedicated should aspire to do. Alric however, was a man on a mission. He strode purposely through the aisles with a small crossbow in his hand. It was simple and but well made. The grip designed for a woman was dwarfed by his calloused hand. That shouldn’t matter though. It should shoot well enough for his purposes.
Rounding a bookshelf, he spotted his target. A young Soldier sat with his head buried in a book. Situational Awareness, Zuin, he thought wryly as he approached, leveling the crossbow at his former roommate’s head.
Catching Alric’s shadow, the young Soldier looked up. “Wait what?” he said eyes widening at the crossbow in his face. It was too late, for him to defend himself. Alric squeezed the trigger and shot the young man in the forehead.
Zuin looked at him in confusion as the marshmallow bounced off his forehead and rolled across his books.
Grinning, Alric began to casually load a second marshmallow. “Told you to watch out for flying marshmallows.” He handed the small crossbow to Zuin, “It’s for Katrie Sedai, what do you think? I made it myself.” Alric pulled a seat up and spun it to sit in it backwards, “Shenanigans aside, I have a proposal for you. I have a few projects I want to work on now that I’m a Dedicated. Want to be my research assistant? Your name will go right under mine on any papers I produce.”
