Artur Baeyn
Birds sang in the trees that offered shade to the young Drin Artur as he sat with his back rested against the massive trunk. His mind drifted in day dreams of the peace of his past life in the wilderness away from any settlement. Only the birds broke the quiet flow of the waterfall as it cascaded to land in the pool of water. The sun shined through the leafs on the great oak tree. A gentle cool breeze ruffled the green leafs, they occasionally detached to float on the currents of air.
His mind dreamed of the time when he could rest all day under a tall tree and not encounter another person. He could go days if not weeks without uttering a word and when he did he would talk to a deer or bird in passing.
Artur longed for the joy of a successful hunt that lasted days of stalking a prey. His mind went to the more recent excursion into the wilderness. He stood in a large clearing with a White wolf looking up to him. The image faded and he remembered sleeping in a tree to recover from the chaos in the city.
He watched the water flow from the waterfall and land in the pool. It was surrounded by flowers so peaceful that he could almost forget the feeling of other presences in his mind. The thought of something else occupying his mind terrified him, maybe he really was insane. No sane person heard or saw wolves talking to them. He could feel them on the edge of his consciousness, if they were real no one knew.
Artur shook his head to clear his thoughts of wolves, they were all a figment. They had to be. To distract himself he focused on listening to the birds sing to each other. A smile broke his expressionless face, he hadn't thought of the conversations the birds had in ages. A fond feeling passed through him when he thought of the days he spent listening to the birds and wondering what they spoke of to each other. His friends when the world was cruel to him.
