Greetings and Salutations one and all,

The proposal for the new blademaster requirements has been approved by consensus, and thus the requirements, and how you earn blademaster has changed.

Having said that, I know to have the bar moved on something you are hoping to achieve for your character can be disheartening. I am not totally heartless, though, and will consider allowing people to work with the old requirements if they are within striking distance of achieving blademaster.

The Old requirements:

Be a fully raised member for at least one month and have 5 points in your chosen weapon. (all requirements below must be completed after you have reached the 5th point)
1: Participate in a spar with someone of at least Expert level. (Your opponent does not have to use your chosen weapon. Alternatively you may fight multiple opponents whose collective points equal 5)
2&3: Teach a class (with at least two graduating students) or two separate one on one thread in the weapon of choice.
4: Write a fanfic of at least 800 words OR participate in a spar of at least eight posts, 200 words apiece for the applier. (Cannot be used for any other Blademaster requirements)

What is striking distance?

You must be fully raised and an expert (5 points) in your chosen weapon.
You also have 3 of the other 4 requirements numbered 1-4 above.

What does this have to do with you?

Simple: If you wish to go for blademaster using the old requirements, then please contact me via PM, or send an email to gt1. In the PM and/or email, please include what requirements you currently have.

You can, alternatively, reply to this thread, and list your requirements here so that I can review/approve/etc.

I believe we've already spoke, but I'll most likely be using the old reqs for Garren. What are the new ones?

The new requirements

- Be a fully raised member for at least six months, including the last three months continuously (regular RP posts, ooc posts, etc.)
- Have 5 points in your chosen weapon before you begin
- Once the previous two requirements have been met, teach two students

Complete any three of the following
- Write a 1500 word fanfic: Ideally, the setting will be outside of the tower and involve live steel and live combat with the potential for injuries or death.
- Write a 1500 word count (your word count alone) spar with an Expert in any weapon (or a combination of points that add up to 5, also in any weapon)
- Write 1500 word count (your word count) RP thread in which your weapons skill is abundantly utilized for purposes of plot advancement. It would be ideal if the setting were outside of the tower, and involve live steal and live combat with the potential for injuries or death.
- 1500 words in an MRP where the weapon skill is abundantly utilized for the purposes of plot advancement
- Other proposals by the player can be discussed with the Mistress of Arms.

- At least two of these items must involve live steel (and preferably also be outside the Tower)
- At least one of these items must be an RP. Fanfic combat is very different from RP combat.
- It should be apparent that your character's chosen weapon is a part of who they are not only in these completed requirements, but throughout their life at the Tower.

After completion, you will need to either:

a) Write a 3000 word fanfic
b) Write a multi post thread where your word count is 3000 words.
c) Consistently participate in an MRP from start to finish, where your weapon skill is utilized, and you hit a 3000 word count.
It is to be noted that anyone within a requirement or two of taking the blademaster test under the current requirements will be allowed to continue to the test under those requirements rather than these, if this proposal passes.
