What if...your character had turned left instead of right? What if...your Aes Sedai had been born without the ability to channel? What if...your Drin’far’ji had not avoided that blade and lost their hand?
When we come to the Grey Tower, we have written biographies and made decisions about how our characters will be. As we write, we continue to make decisions about what will happen to them and how the course of their lives will go.
What if one of those choices had gone another way? How would the course of their life have gone then? This contest is your chance to explore that!
Go back over your character history, before or once in the Tower, and change something--it can be a big thing or a small thing, but it must have long lasting implications. Now, write for your character where they are now, with that one thing changed.
What does their life look like? Who are they? What’s different, and what is perhaps the same?
*** The Rules:
Each entry will be judged on depth, engaging storytelling, and creativity with the topic.
There will be first, second and third place winners. Each will receive a special award, and be able to use their winning entry as one of their Raising Requirements, if your character is a learning rank.
These entries will not be viable for Weapon Skill points, Talent points, or Masteries, because they are “what if” scenarios and not things that your character will be experiencing “in life.”

*** The Rules:
- One entry per character (NOT per writer) is allowed. (However, a single writer will only be eligible for one winning spot.)
- There is a minimum 2500 word count.
- This can be a single fic, a fic series, or a thread/joint fic series. If there are multiple authors, however, each character must meet the minimum to be included in the contest.
Each entry will be judged on depth, engaging storytelling, and creativity with the topic.
