Avyra listened, ignoring his question as to why she put herself down. He wouldn't get it. But still, the prospect of the Ajah was so tempting. She could taste it, almost. She wanted to fight. She wanted to fight to protect.

The small Accepted looked back up at him when he was finished. He looked like a Green should look. Big, strong, mighty, but still kind. Someone who she could run to if she was in trouble and could be protected.

But he had told her she would make a good Green, too, even without all that. She had the Power. It made her strong, able to take down anyone without it.

She looked at her ring, the serpent eating its own tail, fitted snugly to her own finger. It was her only piece of jewelry she had ever been given. The Accepted's dress was the only piece of clothing that had ever fit her. She opened the palm of her other hand, looking at the sweet little dove inside.

Be innocent. They won't suspect it. It seemed almost foolproof.

Avyra looked back up at Zeen. "I... I like the sound of that," she confessed. "I want to fight to help people. I... don't think I fit into the other Ajahs quite so well." She paused. "Thank you. For everything. I don't think I could ever repay you for all this."

Zeen
His smile was crooked as he looked back down at her, though the warmth of the expression was genuine. “I am glad you like the sound of that, Avyra.”

Zeen hesitated a moment, before shrugging inwardly. He gently disentangled his hand from hers, but before his touch could disappear completely, he grasped small, delicate fingers in his, pulling lightly towards him. He pressed a light kiss onto her knuckles, the barest graze of lips against the back of her hand. Then he straightened, releasing his hold, inclining his head briefly.

“You do not owe me anything, doveling. It was both my honour and my pleasure. I look forward to the day you attain the Shawl.”
