The Grey Tower

Ember sat very still as Caddoc examined her, she had been Healed by him before, and she guessed he knew his stuff. They would not be focusing so much on him seeming to run the Infirmary if he did not. But she also worried a little after what they had been talking about. Did he think she was in his way, would he even hesitate before removing her fro his path? She snapped back to the moment as he said he could do little to help her sleep, and she nodded her head with the smallest of motions of her head. She blinked as he spoke of there being little good of Healing, and she nodded her head again, glad as last time she had been ravenous for hours. "Oh...um...Tamora Sedai, she is a Green, apparently recently returned to the Tower. I am helping her with her rooms, I spend most of my time there at the moment." She looked around the bed, and despite his brook no argument tone, she still did not feel right. "I-I will be fine, Caddoc...um...Soldier...sir..." Urgh, what the hell was she supposed to call him now? Now she knew he could kill her and more care about it either way.

Having examined her briefly, Caddoc stepped back. “Caddoc is fine.” He said, as he had the day they met. Glancing out the window, he checked the time. Then he called an Asha’man over. There was a brief, quiet conversation, and in the end both men nodded before Caddoc returned to her bedside. “This Asha’man will make sure you at least take an hour’s rest. I will contact your next teacher myself.” Meeting her eyes, he cocked his head to the side softly. “And do attempt to calm yourself, Drin’far’ji. We would not have had the conversation we had, if there was any reason for you to fear me, yes?” He gave her that small quirk of the lips, seeming amused. “If I was a threat to you, I do not think I would have given you a head’s up.”

She nodded to him as he told her to simply call him Caddoc, her fear of him still there. She was still nervous of him, but there were times when he moved or did something and she found he was really rather attractive. Damned attractive really. She was chewing her lower lip when Caddoc came back over from speaking with the Asha'man, and she nodded as he told her what he was going to do. Talk to her himself! She thought it odd, but who was she to say anything. When he called her a Drin, she smirked at him, she could not help it, and she wondered if that was easier for him to call her than simply her name. He did strike her as the kind of guy who liked to give out nicknames. His comment was logical, and she nodded her head cautiously, and sighed. "Yeah, you are right. Guess I'll just go back to the good dreams of you sneaking into my room, and not have ones were you are going to try and kill me." She was mostly joking, mostly.

This comment brought a definite spark into the man’s already wildly dancing eyes. From the way his brow tilted up, and his lips gave a small side smile, it almost seemed like a spark of interest. Reaching out, he seemed about to take her pulse again, fingers pressed to her wrist. However, at the last moment, he turned her hand over and bent, placing his lips to the back of her hand as he kept his eyes focused upon her’s the entire gesture. “That would be quite difficult, Drin…” he said, and there was that ghostly smile again. “I do not know which room is yours... “

Was that interest? Ember returned the smile when she noticed the strange half smile that he was wearing. She hadn't seen that smile before, and for a moment she wondered if it was real. Was he flattered? Amused at the impossibility of it? Or maybe it was simply that the very thought made him want to laugh. Killing her or seducing her, she didn't try and work out which. When he took her hand and turned it over to kiss her knuckles it was her turn to look surprised, though that paled in comparison to how she looked at his comment. She blushed, he was totally messing with her, he would have his pick of girls after all. "Oh please, you are more than passing intelligent, I'm sure you can figure it out if you really wanted to, Caddoc." She made it sound like an off hand comment, and possibly a challenge, but her green eyes were bright, though still a little wary to.

Caddoc gave a low chuckle, a strange sound from him, but there nevertheless. Pressing one more kiss to the back of her hand, he released her gently, fingers stroking the bottom of her palm in a particularly sensitive spoke as his hand slid along hers during the release. “Perhaps I will, Ember.” He told her, his gaze still holding her own. “I would only hope you don’t get impatient of waiting for me, and decide to go to sleep….” Oh yes, that was certainly interest in those dancing eyes, now…

Oh Light, what was she doing? She was flirting with a man who was above her in every station possible, and who could hardly emotionally feel anything. And who did scare her quite a bit. The way his long fingers slid along her hand made her shiver, a small sound escaping hey mouth as he did. She but down in her lower lip. Was this like a game of 'mercy', seeing who would give up and laugh first? Then he used her name, and his comment sent all manner of thoughts sweeping through her mind. "Well, you could always wake me with all manner of delightful things..." Oh Light, bloody ashes, what the hell was she doing. She gave a little smile then, and looked down. No one was paying them much mind, at the moment, but that could change, she knew. She refused to ask him if he was serious, or if she should wait up for him tonight. Nope, this had to be a joke, and that was the way she would treat it.

“Yes, I could…” He said, and his voice had dropped an octave lower, now nearly a purr. His eyes seemed to refuse to leave her until she looked away. With a final smile, he straightened, though there was still that look in his eyes, even as his face became business once again. He turned to the Asha’man who was a good distance away. “Make sure she rests.” He told the other. “Novice Ember needs to..” was that a purposeful pause? “Keep her health up. I will be back in about an hour, after I speak with those she should be with now.” One last look behind him, catching her face, and then he turned and was gone, that long, long back hair shifting out behind him as he rounded a corner out of sight…

Dear, sweet Creator, why had you made a man as beautiful as him? She did not look up as he began to speak to the Asha'man, and she caught the way he spoke. He was continuing the joke even now. She shook her head, catching those green eyes as he headed away and she laid back on the bed. She needed to be up and out of here before his return, that was for sure. She closed her eyes and soon drifted off into a dream filled nap, where emerald eyes teased her into a right mess.

Caddoc left the room and the Asha’man he had spoken to did indeed keep an eye on her. After about an hour, she was woken and given a meal. “Caddoc Svan came and gone while you slept.” He told the woman. “He says that before you leave, you need to eat.” Caddoc had left the Infirmary only long enough to speak to her teachers, and had even spoken to the Mistress of Novices briefly. Very briefly. Then he had returned to the Infirmary. At the moment he was working on another patient, and thoughts of her had left his mind for now, though in the back of his head he did, of course, remember their flirtation. Tonight would be to soon, however…
