Dianlinn listened to the red haired woman as she spoke of the basics of how she saw hand to hand fighting. The Aiel did not teach this way, but it was still interesting learning the ways that the Wetlanders fought. After all, she would mainly be fighting Wetlanders and the Twisted. She focused on the woman, her green eyes watching how she moved, taking in the subtle movements that made the difference between a successful or a failed manoeuvre. She took hold of the Gaidin's wrist as told, and watched as she broke out of the hold twice with two different techniques. They were interesting, different than what she was used to, but then no less effective.

When the woman told her to now practise what she had learned, so Dianlinn nodded her head and moved forward and held out her wrist for the Gaidin to take hold of. She felt the weight of the grip, and then began to twist her hand until her palm was facing the sun. The she tried to pull up but the other woman's grip was stronger than she had assumed. It was her fault for thinking the woman before her would be easily defeated. It changed the way she saw the woman for a moment, before she licked her lips and looked to the woman. "I will try again." She put her hand back straight, and when the Gaidin gripped her wrist she twisted it once again, so her palm was sun up, and then pulled her hand towards her shoulder sharply. This time the woman let go, and Dianlinn felt a moment of pride, before she pushed it down. She should not have needed the second attempt. She continued to practise this a few more times, though as she did she tried different ways of holding her arm, tucking her elbow in, leaning back slightly to brace her balance.

Soon, the Gaidin said enough, and they were set to try the other break.

This one she knew she would find harder to practise, as it was based on leverage, but she was taller than the Gaidin, and in that the other woman would have the advantage. But still, Dianlinn was not going to complain or use it as an excuse. She would do her best in all things, and this was one of them. She watched as the other woman gripped her wrist, and moved towards her slowly, letting her elbow drop as she let the other woman's hand get closer to her upper arm. She then pulled her arm up sharply, but alas, it did not happen. The woman continued to hold her fast, and Dinalinn tilted her head as she thought over what had happened. "I will try again." She said simply, again a moment of agitation showing in her eyes before she pushed it away. This time she moved faster towards the other woman, and let her shoulder drop a little meaning the Gaidin's hand reached further up her arm. She tried to pull her arm up once more, but it did not work, the other woman held fast. Taking a breath, she held her arm out once again, and let the woman take it. This time she moved faster towards the other woman, leaning forward at the waist, and this time she would have the leverage of pulling her body straight up also. And it worked. She smiled a little, before she held out her hand. She wanted to try it again and again, and she did many times over until she had it just right.

"Good," Nat said when they were done. It had taken some while to get it the way they both wanted it, but that was always the way. Her perseverance was important, and Nat was pleased. Though, really, she had not expected anything less from a young woman with the history she had and previous training.

Stepping back, Nat rolled her shoulders a little to keep them loose. "You'll want to spar and practice these as much as possible. Work on committing them not just to your memory but to your body's."

Nat considered what they had covered so far and what they had left. "We've discussed your previous experience with offensive strikes and practiced some holds. Next, we're going to cover some defense. A well-rounded lesson for the day." She gestured for the Ji to take up a stance. "I'm going to go through some basic strikes, slowly, and I'd like to see how your instincts and previous training go into defending yourself."

Once the other woman was ready, Nat started what would be a sequence of strikes: a high right cross, a low straight jab, a wide swing.
