It wasn’t impossible to find a quiet place for two people to work closely together in the Warder Yards, but it wasn’t the easiest thing to do either. The large Ji’val sat opposite a much smaller Gaidin. Smaller, but certainly more capable than a lot of others Bastian had seen in the Warder Yards. He’d gotten to witness exactly how fierce first hand when a group of bandits thought they’d get the drop on the pair.
The hunting trip had been a mission for the Mistress of the Kitchens, but it had also been a chance for Bastian to work with Lysira Gaidin and learn her signs. There were a numbr of similarities to her ‘language,’ and that his father taught him long ago, but there were enough differences that meant he was far from ‘fluent’ in reading her signs.
Today, Gaidin and Ji’val were sitting in what appeared to be a small, empty office. “Wait. . .I’m confused. I thought this was the sign for ambush, while this was the sign for fall back?” He went through two signs that might look similar to an untrained eye. “Or am I getting those confused with what I learned from father?”
